Possibly the best Lancer error?
I think I had a bit too much fun at the track
Four wheels move the body, two wheels move the soul.

The car went into limp mode, in third gear it wouldn't let me downshift to second even at 50km/h
wouldn't take off if I floored it either
I was changing gears and accelerating heavily alot that probably caused it

The error basically means you have overheated the CVT Fluid. It's not a major issue provided it doesn't happen frequently or continuously. Replacement of the fluid is recommended though to retain maximum performance and function of the fluid in the workings of the gearbox, thus preventing further damage.
As for voiding the warranty, that can be a touchy subject. But I would say no it would not, provided of course it is not a common occurrence. Lots of driving situations can cause this error, for example towing a large load like a caravan uphill has the chance of producing this error.
I would recommend asking your Mitsubishi Dealer's service manager for his advice on the matter.
