Just go and get it, port your Optus number across to Telstra, and then it cancels your Optus contract. Optus sends you a bill after that, and it's less than the remaining months on your contact.

For eg: 3 months left @$49 or a cancelation fee of $90.

Mine was about 2 months under contract and it cost me $70 or something, where as if I left it 2 more months would be $98 (2x $49)

Of course, double check with them how much it will be for a plan payout, just in case it works out to be $500 or something stupid

i went into optus store this evening and apparently it would be about 350..then the guy was like u wanting the new iphone or something? n i was like ah no not rly was looking at a few fones over at telstra and that shut him up....lol

i dont no they seemed pretty busy n he didnt even look up anything like i just asked him n was like if i was 2 change/cancel my contact how much would it be n the guy was like when do u think it runs out n i was like im pretty sure its november n then he was like oh yeh its prob about 350
then he went on n was like but if u were waiting for the iphone or something it might be less or even free by then ...haha little does he no i dont want an iphone..nor stay with optus
