Have you checked under your cupholder? There should be a harness under there which has a 12v signal...Not 100% sure if it applies to evos though.

You will be fine with what your trying to power. Even if you get one of those ciggarette lighter adapter things which takes the one plug and makes it 3 or 4, that should give you a quick idea if it works or not. But you should be fine with that stuff ;)

The Evo forum in the states recommended I try the fuse box. I'm indifferent TBH as long as it works and doesn't ruin my dash trim.

On a practical level, do I literally rip out the interior trim to get to the power source?

Tried searching 'fuse box' and 'electrical circuit diagram' but can't find anything which shows how we can tap into the 12v power supply from the box. My installer has asked me to try and find this so we don't need to rip out the cig lighter/interior trim to find it. If anyone has it, can they please make a new sticky thread for it?

look in your car book(Manuel) that you should have in your car., it has where and what fuses does what.
there should be a 10A fuse for your cig lighter may be called accessories, that's why it says max 120W. it will most likely be in the inside fuse box id presume.

There's the fusebox behind the glovebox, is that where you want to tap into?

There is a diagram of all the circuits behind your glovebox, will see ciggy the symbol & find the corresponding fuse on the panel. Might be a bit fiddly getting behind there.

its not really take the glovebox out, and its pretty spacious. getting to the wire, may be a bit harder, but just unmount the fusebox and should be good.

On some models - so, de-rate them to 7.5 amps if you have 2, and loading them up !

what size is the cable, its not good to overrate something you may burn out your wire and burn your car down. i doubt going from 10 to 15 would do that but still. best to check.

G'day Blake - 15 amp fuse rating is from the owner manual.

a good installer will pull a new source of Acc power from your ignition barrel for you and put in the appropriate rating fuse for what your wanting to run off it.

new circuits are best as there is no load from other features running on them.

no more then $40 for that to be done
