Has anyone fitted silicone hoses to their Evo (or Lancer?)

Postby JaCe » Tue Mar 09, 2010 6:13 pm

Found this on eBay for $70aud shipped: http://cgi.ebay.com.au/MITSUBISHI-LANCE ... 1564wt_939

Look quite nice and could spice up the engine bay. Any thoughts?

why dont you just buy the ones that misihmoto make. as well as there radiator? the radiator hoses are the same from evo to standard lancer anyway arnt they?

The hoses are different Blake.

The part where the radiator cap is in the Evo is slightly more towards the passenger side of the car. But I think we have the provision to move outrs over as the bracket on the radiator is ready to take it. Also the lower hose appears to be different, but I can't 100% confirm nor deny that yet.

Hence why I said Chubb and I are doing ground work already for it.

He has already had discussions with Gates about it, and I am assisting with my knowledge on the matter.

well, i was presuming they are the same, as mishimoto's radiator says it will fit both evo and normal lancer. as a direct bolt on. for both. so i presumed the pipes are the same seeing as i doubt they would change them,

but you may be right that they are slightly offset from the evo, it does seem feesable.

wheres a small pet pig when you need one. (cant spell the real name of it lol so i gave up)

The radiators are the same, yes. The mounting of such that it. The radiators are difference cooling-wise

The hoses are not (and the offset of the cap) is due to there being intercooler pipes and what not.

Confirming:

Lower hose of Evo X is comprised of 3 sections.
Lower hose of others is single part.

Whether or not the Evo X hose will work, with joiners obviously, I don't know. Will be one of those things you have to try and see.

Would be good eh :)

They do Evo X kits (of course)

Most Evo kits seem to have 2 piece lowers so they must be able to do away with one of them ie make one hose out of them

seems like a pointless thing to make 1 hose in 3 parts, instead of jsut one.

Here is the X

Here is the NA

Ours have to travel around the intake on the front of the motor where the X does not.

Also you may notice the NA pic has aftermarket hoses, these are clear plastic hoses with LED's in them from memory (do I smell rice :P).

I think it is the whole hose you just put on, have a look.
