ADR 42 - General Safety Requirements
The function of this Australian Design Rule is to specify design and construction requirements to ensure safe operation of vehicles.

15. BRAKE TUBING AND BRAKE HOSE
Flexible hydraulic brake hoses, air or vacuum brake tubing and air and
vacuum hose, flexible and hydraulic power hose between the Brake
Power Unit 31/00 or Brake Power Unit 35/00 and the master cylinder
or its equivalent must conform to SAA, SAE, BS, JIS, DIN, ISO or ECE
Standards specified for flexible brake hoses, air brake tubing or hose or
vacuum brake tubing or hose or hydraulic power tubing or hose and be
fitted to the vehicle as to prevent chafing, kinking or other mechanical
damage under normal motion of the parts to which they are attached.
So basically, anything which comes from one of the reputable manufacturers i.e. Goodridge, AP etc, will be ADR approved. I'm not sure of any other manufacturer unless they specify that they are built to one of the above standards, but I'd hazard a guess many would be.

To simplify it.. any braided line must fall under one of the other world standards to be ADR approved.

i bought some works braided brake lines which are D.O.T approved in the states
D.O.T = department of transport
same regulations as over here so hopefully that they will be adr approved as well.

All I can find of any significance on DOT so far is: FEDERAL MOTOR VEHICLE SAFETY STANDARDS AND REGULATIONS -- U.S. DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION

I did a bit of a google and came across this comment, so best do your research. By the way, they also went on to say that Goodridge do have ADR approval.

Note: The Federation Of Road Safety (FORS) warns that many brake hoses say they comply with the American standards FMVS1O6, however that does not mean that also meet ADR requirements. The FORS state that many hoses have been submitted with the American approval but have failed under Australian Design Rule. This point must be stressed to customers when inquiring about true street legal brake lines.

DOT aint on the list so DOT approved hoses without one or more of the other listed standards associations wouldn't be ADR compliant.
