Hey guys,

Just wondering what the differences are between the VR & Activ ? From what I can tell from reading around the VR is still better than the Activ which is just an upgraded ES?

So in short, which should I get?

What does the VR have that the Active doesn't?

What does the Activ have that the ES doesn't? (I know the active has extra airbags and alloys)

Anyways, buying secondhand so thanks for the help!!!

VR has the same engine, same basic interior, but gets a leather steering wheel, bluetooth audio, leather gear stick, seat airbags i think? They also get 16 inch alloys and the rain sensor in the windscreen. Otherwise very much the same.

The active i think is the same, but also gets factory body kit?

Activ has the leather steering wheel too.

2011 gets reversing sensors.

2012 doesn't, but gets the RA front-end.

Both get the side & rear bodykit.

Foglights aren't standard.

No ciimate control.

Each year is slightly different...

It also has a leather steering wheel, handbrake lever and gear knob, but I cant recall if the Activ also comes with them. The equipment lists of the VR and Activ vary depending on which model year youre looking at buying. Seat airbags have always been standard on all CJs, it was the curtain airbags that were standard on the VR that werent on the early Activs.

ES, didnt all get seat airbags. Alot of Early VR wrecks didnt have climate controls when i was looking last year.

As far as I can tell, the Activ is a promotional edition of the ES with a lot of added features. The VR, at least early on, was a dedicated model in the lineup. However, there's not much separating it from the VR. It varies from year to year though; we've also seen versions like the SX, LX and there are new things like the hatch-based GSR.

I've got a 2010 Activ and the noticeable difference is in the climate control, auto wipers and the spoiler type. (Not sure if there's a difference in sound system? Maybe it's a 6-stacker cd player instead of the 1) Otherwise, I think they're pretty similar.

Sum up te features of each, just remember that the automatic windscreen doesn't transplant into cars without it without a lot of messing about. But climate control does easily.

Aside from the differences told here already..

I saw some VRs around MY12 (or whenever the colour cluster came in) come with colour clusters which look MUCH NICER. Not sure if it became a default option for VRs by then or it was something you can choose to put on.

Activs never came with it from memory.
