Demo / Near new VRX - Should I get it checked?

Hey guys

My 6 and a half months without a car is almost over. Surprisingly, I am getting mine from VIC even though I'm from Sydney. I'm not far from putting a deposit down. I could put it down within the next few days. However, I wanted to know if I should get it checked even though it's near new? It's only done 15kms.

If yes, any Melbournians near Campbellfield like to volunteer to look over the car for me?

Anw u have 5 year warranty so nothing to worry about. If it has just 15kms please don't waste your time and money getting it inspected as hardly a few people would have test driven it.

Lol Just 15kms. I'm not talking about a whole car inspection. I mean for someone to have a quick scan over it to make sure nothings wrong with it. But I have been convinced just to lay a deposit down. I'll be doing that some time this week.

Just make sure the ad is correct and the car has actually done 15kms, as I picked up my supposedly brand new car with thirty something kms on the odometer. Can't see a 'suspicious' smiley, so I'll just use the skeptical third world kid meme:

I'm assuming fifteen thousand kms as it would be brand spanking new if it were fifteen kilometres total - and you would just need to cross shop the 2 closest Mitsu dealer to you for the best deal instead of considering a car interstate.

Definitely get an inspection. I personally don't know why people perceive low kms in a used vehicle to be positive, but in my paranoid mind there's a plethora of negative explainations as to why a certain car has travelled lower than avg kms (been in accident sitting at the panel beaters for a while; driven exclusive for short distances - doing more harm on a cold engine than hwy travels, 2nd or 3rd car in a household that doesn't see regular use - hence any use is thrashed/abused: more applicable to hi-po vehicles).

Fifteen thousand kilometres is enough time and distance for the previous owner(s) to have done something to potentially void the manufacturer's warranty too. If you care about warranty, make sure to check with a Mitsu service dept whether there is warranty coverage based on VIN/engine numbers.

Do check the car over for any scratches etc when you pick it up.

In my excitment picking up my RA (my first brand new car) I didn't think to check. When I went to put fuel in it on way home I notice small scrath near fuel door. I rang salesmen and advised and took it back but he polished out with Autoglym on inspection. I don't think I would have any legs to stand on if it hadn't anyway as I'd signed all paperwork and driven it away.

The dealer is supposed to give you a run down when he hands you the keys.
he should point out any optional extras you purchased. as well as show you some of the features of your vehicle like blutooth.

once you drive away, that's it. It's yours. you only have the manufacturers warranty. and maybe a dealer warranty if used vehicle.

Main thing to look for is that the car is clean, engine bay is totally clean and brand new looking, look for scratches dents, and check tinting if purchased at the dealer.
New car smell is important but you can buy that in a can now days.

It's all good guys. Thanks ofey for volunteering. But I've already put the deposit down. Turns out that the dealership isn't in campbellfield, but in south melbourne.
