Looking at VR's

Postby jamesyeahh » Fri Jun 19, 2015 2:01 am

Hey guys.
I've been looking at lancers and came across 2 white vr's.
One has done 117000kms at the price of $11,000 with no badge.. Non negotiable. The other has done 106000kms at the price of $12,000 with after market black rims but would hopefully try and negotiate with the price.

I wanted to ask if these prices are worth it and how much you guys think I could down the price by on the 2nd ad.

Thanks!

Hi James,

My pic would be to go with the second one (105k km and the black rims) and try to talk the seller down.

According to RedBook, they sold for $24,490 new, with a current private sale price of $8300 - $9900.

it's a matter of the seller choosing between getting money in their hand now, and possibly not getting as much as they want versus waiting a month or more and then getting less for it.

If I were buying it, I'd make a starting offer of $9500 and see what they say to that. Also, play them off against the other seller. Say something like "The other car is cheaper, but it's too far away / the seller is busy and I can't see it / some other reasonable white lie."

Don't forget - you'll need to pay registration transfer as well and that's a good $500 on top of the car's price.

Good luck, and let us know how you go.

Cheers,
V
