G'day
We have an 2010 VRX with CVT
Yesterday several problems arose
Went about 40 klm up the highway and all was well
went to come home some 5 or 6 hours later and the thing was stuck in Park tried ffor 5 or 10 mins. and then had to go and get a small screwdriver and pry the plug out and push the lock down
This has occured before but try again and it worked
Last service I mentioned it but as it was then ok nothing was found .
Then the cruise control would not engage , again this has happened twice before but on using car next trip , all well no problem
Finally an warning tone and info display changed to yellow and an ASC off / service required warning was on .
Has anyone had these issues with their Lancer ?

Garry do you have any mods fitted to your car?
Electrical mods are normally the cause for this. LED lights are the biggest cause of this.

I have not heard this happening before.
Take it back to the dealer and insist they find a problem and fix it.

Yes , I will contact dealer tomorrrow , arrange a time to take it in and hope they have the answer
but I have little faith in them finding an intermittant problem so thats why I asked if anyone else has experienced this
I will post the outcome here when I get one

Hi Garry,
The car not coming out of Park -- usually the brake pedal needs to be fully depressed to get an auto trans to move to a new position. I'm sure you already know that and tried that.
If it is still a problem it could be that interconnect not working correctly or sending the signal to the trans.
Intermittent cruise control and ASC issues need to be diagnosed same as trans prob by the dealer.
I had inter crz control problem on turbo Mitsu in USA for yrs but never got it fixed as car was way out of 3yr warranty.
Don't let dealer tell u they cannot find the problems, they can, Mitsu is paying them for the warranty repairs so they can spend hours digging til they find it.
The diagnostic computer should have events recorded for those faults, they can then follow their troubleshooting guides if some bright mechanic hasnt already seen those probs before and knows their likely causes.
Let us know what they find please.

G'day
Just an update the car is booked in to visit dealer tomorrow
but in the meantime I found that when it will not come out of park the stoplights are not working , the amount of force or pressure applied to pedal makes no difference.
Now it seems to not work about 25% of the time , so hopefully will be an easy problem to locate if its the same fault causing all 3 issues.

G'day
The Lancer went back to dealer today and they said all of those issues can be caused by a crook brake light switch.
It was replaced and hopefully the cruise control and ASC warning fault problems are also gone , time will tell

That's Good News Garry .....
I'm pretty sure the Brake Light Switch may have been the Fault.
You should notice the Change/Difference immediately.

Yes , when the stop lights work it comes out of park every time , but cruise control is as yet untested , stop start traffic on the way home and in any case the Mrs was driving and she rarely uses the cruise.

I believe Sam had the same problem with the brake light switch at one stage. Not sure what thread it was in. Sam pressed the brake pedal down and then check the back of the car and the brake lights were not on.

HaHa .....
.... Yep that's right.
I would press the Brake Pedal and then get out of the car, walk to the rear and check to see if the Brake Lights were "ON" ....
No matter how many times I tried this, I just couldn't seem to figure out if the Brake Lights were working or not....
Oh Well, I'll just have to make friends with someone one day and ask them to stand behind my car and see if they work or not.

LOL all u have to do is park your car with the rear close to a wall, press the brake and see if the lights are on by looking at the wall behind u. No need for an extra friend hehe
