I'm assuming not having it serviced for 40k km voided the warranty?

I would hope so. People like that need to be taught a lesson in how to look after their belongings...

At most I miss a service by 5k and even then I'm stressing about it... but to skip one by 25k, the person who ignored the service due warning, or turned it off at all, needs a clip around the ear...

The car does about 5k per month and the young woman who owns it was told by a friend it only needs servicing every 6 months or so.Not particularly good advice.

Girls often treat a car like a television. Switch it on and off. Too bad she doesn't have a real man in her life to prevent her from bumbling into motoring disaster. How much is a recon engine, 3k fitted?

The 4B11 engine looks to be used in the 2020 ASX, which is such a major update is basically a new car apart from the driveteain. Maybe it uses a 4J11?

If you go by the "2018 Grand lancer ad" for Japan it will have the 4j10 engine 15.7km/L, LED head lights and tail lights, CVT8, only 6 airbags "RISE" (Realised Impact Safety Evolution) FULL LCD Instrument cluster (On non base models), the usual ABS, EBD, TCL, ASC. And it also looks like Mitsi have gone back to a separate display for climate control.
I know that when vehicles come here that some of these features may be absent or different and this is only indicative. and also I cannot read Japanese so don't know what half of the things written on the screen are lol.
about 5:30 into the video they go all out showing the different configs for the LCD cluster

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-l_Y3qnSYCU&t=337sSo maybe the ASX will also use the 4J10

Apparently it's 2.0 L which would make it the 4J11. Even these are fairly old now.

So 5k a month you'd want a service at least every 3 months.
New (used) engine, expensive mistake!

I have my oil changed on my lancer every 10K, I now have 340,000 on it and still runs like new, although slightly less power compared when I bought brand new back in 2010. Still original water pump, fuel pump, alternator, radiator.
