Check Engine Light after hitting boost

Hey guys, had a quick look in search bar, couldnt find an answer.
Driving today in the fwy, went to overtake a car, hit about 25psi and the engine light comes on.
Car sounds and drives normal, however appears to have a huge drop in boost pressure now, cant get it over 10psi.
Any ideas? Desperatly hoping its not a blown turbo or something along those lines. Still hits boost, but really sluggish.

Update:
Drove the car home, engine light on, however hitting boost as per normal the whioe way home. Hit 25psi again with no issues.
Now im really confused.

Check the codes first, that will tell you whats happening

Do you use a logger? If so log boost, wgdc, knock, timing, rpm to see what is happening. Also worth checking all intercooler pipes etc to ensure one isn't loose (happened to me once before)

If the issue has 'gone away' the check engine light will also disappear after 5 or so ignition starts (something like that anyway) or clear it with ecuflash once you've checked to chides

Thanks for your replies,
How do i check these codes? Is it something i can do myself or do i have to take it in to Mitsubishi?

get a OBD 2 tool.
if your looking at tuning yourself then it may be worth while to invest in a tactrix.
otherwise i use something like this for day to day logging and diagnosis.

Follow what's been said so far. If you're running 25psi boost the the car must be at least moderately modified and tuned pretty hard. If your still using the ecu rather than a boost controller the ecu will do this if it detects over boosting, but if you don't know what the codes are I'm not confident if you'll know this so maybe shoot an email or ring whoever tuned your car. I doubt it's the turbo, if it was you wouldn't need a CEL to tell you something was wrong, probably something else, code will tell you.
List of codes can be found here

sounds like a boost leak maybe, is it idling roughly?
but yeap, a code read would be handy unless it clears itself
or the GFB BOV, if u want to get rid of it dibs

Check your fuel pressure regulator hose hasn't come off

If it overboosted then the ecu would cut the boost but would not throw the light and would only be for that acceleration. Boost would be fine again immediately afterwards

Better find out what codes its throwing before we can make any assumptions. What mods do you have, you don't have a BOV do you?

Agreed!
This car sounds tuned. Best answer that you will get is, to go back to your tuner and get him to look at everything and read the codes and see whats happening
No point us "guessing" here :p
If youre car was stock, then different story hehe

Thanks for the feedback guys,
I've tried contacting the original owner, however i've had no reply. He was a member on here, but i'm unable to find his username or any member ride thread to figure out what exactly has been done.
All i know is that he said it was tuned, but there are no other after market engine mods to this car.
I've added a GFB BOV recently and since doing so, i've had this issue, so i know that the problem lies there somewhere.
I'm gonna check the codes that efod gave me a link to and see what i can find. In the meantime, the car is running fine, i just wont put my foot into it till it's sorted.
Thanks again guys!
