Sst oil and filter change

Postby HansV » Sun Mar 09, 2014 10:06 pm

I'm nearly due for my 60k service and I'm wanting to get the sst oil and filter changed at the same time on my RA. I've been quoted $410 for the service and $200 for the sst oil changed from my local stealership, the guy behind the desk was telling me the filter can't be changed because its internal. The strange thing is I went there a few months ago to get a quote for just the sst oil change and filter and the quote was $625. I don't really feel confident in using this dealer for the sst oil change, they don't seem to know much about the RA. Has anyone had there sst oil changed in the Sydney area and what dealership would you recommend goin to?

Welcome to the joys of ra and evo owners.
The external filter you can get from mitsu which is about 170 or u can go to ford and pay about 50 exact same one.
As for the fluid again there are a few options most people stixk to the oem which is very expensive or u can try afew after market ones but remember if u use a non oem fluid and they find out your warranty goes oit the window.
If ur going to go oem use a ralliart dealership. Not all mitsu dealers are ralliart dealers.

At a dealership you should not be paying anything more than $215 per 4L of SST fluid. They will probably quote you more but don't pay a cent more.

One of the members here was quoted over $300 per 4L of SST fluid initially but they quickly dropped it down to the $215 dollar mark. You will need approx 7L of fluid and they only come in 4L containers.

The fact that this dealership is charging you only $200 for the fluid is very concerning. Also I would not trust them putting in the correct amount of fluid. They would usually only put in 5-6L but in reality it needs approx 7L (someone please correct me if I'm wrong).

Why dont you take you car to the many evo specialist workshops available to you in Sydney and get them to do your service. It wont void your warranty if they do it.

Are you sure the dealership even realizes it's an sst, not a cvt? I would not trust them to do that or to service my ra at all. As Steve says, an sst oil change is in the region of $900 through a dealership
