Thats an interesting thought, ive never turned the aircon off. It would surprise me that turning it off would give that large a performance gain

5. Faulty idler pulley replaced at 19,000 kms
Faulty idler pulley (different pulley) replaced at 37,000kms
Faulty idler puller (same one as preplaced at 19,000km) replaced at 51,000 kms.

Dealer say they have not had similar problem with any CJ and have checked pulley alignment and found no issue.

Radio lost AM signal about 12 months ago, waited 6 weeks for a replacement unit.
Engine bay popping sound heard inside car was traced to a faulty charcoal cannister at 45,000kms. This was replaced with quote on invoice as " hotline fix CJ17-001". Must be other cars with same problem it seems?
Comments: Car still on original Yokohamas, still plenty of tread left.
My car has the added insulation as altered in cars made from May 2008 onwards, but very disappointed in NVH in this vehicle, considering it is the updated version, earlier CJ's must have been deafening!
I find the air con really flattens performance, for an engine with good torque and horsepower figures, it is very doughy from a standing start.
Would I buy another one, mmmm, jury is out on that....

I've turned the aircon off.. but I don't feel any difference to be honest. Same with our other cars? Maybe its because I put it on the first fan setting hmm.

That's very good life out of your tyres! Yea the NVH is terrible, and the 2011 model is suppose to be 20% better. NVH is very similar to a Mazda 3 though.

The corolla i owned before did not seem to lose much power when the air con was on. With the lancer there seems to be a major differance in power with the air on,mainly from standing start with a CVT. Also i noticed the CVT reacts hesitanly at time at slow speeds with the air on. Driving the car in manual mode however seems to improve things. I dont have a issue with road noise, only on a course or rough road its more noisier than the previous car i owned :)

I notice. Its fine for every day driving though.

I mostly notice it in 5th on highways when I want to speed up a bit. But I notice it in all gears.

Just roll along in gear at low speeds and turn it on and off, not fun.
