I am debating on buying new wheels or just painting my stock rims. What do you think? I am pretty poor right now but really need to buy new tires. If i buy new wheels I would move up to some 17". I figured i should just do it now because why buy tires for my 16" stock rims and then turn around and buy 17" wheels and end up buy new tires again. I dont know what to do. Maybe I will buy new tires and then paint my stock 16". These are the stock rims on an ES.

Have you thought about a decent second hand set of rims with reasonable tread. I pretty sure you could pick up a cheap set of VRX/Ralliart rims and tyres for a good price and then perhaps paint them later on when you are a bit more cash up. If you hold out for long enough someone on the club will put up a set for sale.

why don't you just sell you OEM rims and tires and get a new set of 18's. It shouldn't be that much if you get a good price for the OEM's:)

You said you have a ES?? If I'm not mistaken, ES lancers only come with wheel covers?? Anyhow there was someone on here from the Goulburn area ( can't think of he's username) he painted his Active rims black, think they were powder coated. They looked nice. I'm sure i have seen similar powder coated rims on eBay as well. My moto is, if your not 100% sure on something, don't do it. Think it over more until you have clearer mind on what you want to do. It can be confusing especially when you see all the nice rims that the members have on this forum. Go with your heart.

If you're upgrading, go for the 18'' wheels. 17'' are too close to the stock ones to make a significant visual difference.
