Any suggestions of extra things I should take with me, or any travel tips would be muchly appreciated.
This will be my first proper road trip, and I have to do it in 8 days all up. Any input/suggestions we be greatly appreciated.

Are you going by yourself?
That is one long trip Adelaide to Perth.
AJjnr move from Queensland to WA. He can tell you how long it takes and what the roads are like.

Well, I guess I'm going to get at least one jerry can! Seems like I won't to do as much preparation as I thought. Roads seem to be good. Thanks for the link.

Hey Brent, the trip took a day from one side to the other, I will get all the details of where I started and stopped
Just a quick heads up, fuel is expensive along that stretch
Feel free to ask away, but as I said I'll compile my run sheet

That would be fantastic thanks Ayron. I'll be sure to ask you more questions when I get the run sheet

ok Brent
i obviously did my trip form the Gold Coast to Albany and took 7 days. i wont go into the details of the whole trip, but the closest i got to Melbourne on this trip was an overnight stay at Yarrawong, from there i travelled to Adelaide, spent 2 days there, exploring and participated in their cruise.
after the cruise, left Adelaide with no real overnight stay, but was aiming for Ceduna, but couldnt make it so had sleep for a few hours at a truck stop a few hours before Ceduna. i was up early and carried on, filling up and eating at Ceduna, then headed into the unknown. i was told that there is a section of about 400km that doesnt have a servo, but didnt have any problem with making it between servos. i stopped off at the Great Australian Bight to have a photo shoot and a quick look then headed out to Norseman for the night, made it there with plenty of time before it got dark. set up tent at the Norseman caravan park.
then on the last day of travel, headed south thru Esperence to Albany.
the missus' uncle rode to Perth on his bike, then back to Sydney, and was saying that the trip from Norseman staight to Perth was boring, and said the trip along the coast was a great trip and very scenic.
i would say if u have the time then the drive along the WA coast would b good to c

Our cars have a huge range compared to 4wds and other things that go across all the time.
If you're not sure, just fill up to be sure. A stretch and a snack are always good.
All I've ever heard about it is its boring lol.

it is a really, long, slow and trip
yea was ok with not having to worry bout fuel too much, but for the price that i was paying along that stretch, it might be worth while in trying to get a few jerry cans to save some money on fuel
