An off-duty senior police constable has had his car confiscated after he was allegedly involved in a street race in Sydney's north.
Police received a report of two cars speeding around Mona Vale Road, St Ives.
Just before 11pm (AEDT) on Friday, police spotted a black Ford Falcon utility and a white Mitsubishi Lancer travelling at speeds of up to 100km/h in a 60km/h zone.
The male drivers of the cars, both aged 27, will appear at Hornsby Local Court on Thursday, April 2.
They have been charged with taking part in a race between vehicles, exceeding the speed limit and negligent driving.
Their licences were suspended and cars confiscated.
The actions of the off-duty officer, from a local area command in the northwest metropolitan region, will also be the subject of NSW Police Force internal disciplinary procedures.
