Subaru withdraws from 2009 WRC

WOW!Imagine my surprise when I turn on the TV to find out this!Subaru has withdrawn from the 2009 World Rally Championship (Reason unknown to me), on the back of Aussie racer Chris Atkinson's best ever season. It leaves Atkinson without a team for 2009, and narrows the WRC down to ..4? teams, I think. might be 5. Peugoet, Ford, Skoda, Toyota?Now if only Mitsubishi was still competing..

According to the BBC there is only 2 manufacturers..

Subaru's exit leaves just two manufacturers in next year's championship in the shape of Citroen and Ford.

I remember when the Peugeot 206 was THE rally car. And while I'm at it, who remembers Lancia? (or something similar to that)

I liked the flat low look of the Lancia hatch and the night racing lights across the front - don't forget also the Audi Quattro was a force in rally for years during the 1980s as well.
