Suggestion: Car Magazine Advertising for ClubCJ

Just a thought:
Imagine a full page advert on Club CJ in Auto Salon Mag or Fast 4's? I believe this will create alot of publicity for the club and attract alot of new members. Maybe the senior moderators could organise a donation from members to pay for the Page, or maybe even fundraiser cruises for the club for members in their respective states.
I'm thinking a nice photo of a few ClubCJ members cars with some info about the club and a BIG CLUBCJ.NET logo on it somewhere.
Maybe some of you Photoshop/illustrator wizzes could post some ideas.
We can make this club big, real big.
Advertising to the target market is the key!

Organise a big cruise.
Be VERY organised and have lots of clean/waxed CJ's
Speak to car mag, get them to organise interview with admin(s) and send a photographer
I know it isn't always quantity and that quality matters, but that's a suggestion

lots of $$$ and to be honest paying the amount of cash they want when we would only appeal to a very minor percent of their readers (cj owners) would not be the best value for our money.....im sure there would be lots of smaller ideas that would give us better coverage to our target audience compared to the amount of $$$ it would cost.
lots of money is wasted in business advertising to the wrong audience

i remember awhile back now, in Hot 4s they had the Supra Club of QLD that done a cruise. had about 20 Supras there, and they wrote an story and sent in pictures and they got a 3 page spread. so i guess we could try that. take the pics and write the story and details on some of the cars and and info about the club and just sent it in.

id imagine a full page advert would cost a bit.. Also autosalon will soon be online as they have stopped using the print media (till march)..
Another suggestion which is probably unfair to the premium members would be allowing non-premium members to purchase clubcj.net decals, unless you guys already do this?
Its kinda win-win situation.. selling the decals for $10-$15 (random $$ figure i just made up). Part of that will cover the cost to make them and also a little bit that goes towards the club.. It's easy and effective that's why most clubs and forums do it..
The number of non-premium members to premium members is like 10:1.. yes i know that not all members here are active etc but even if half the number of members on the site are active its still 5 times more exposure than you'd get by just allowing premium members to have the decal..
Just a suggestion

At this point in time we do not allow non premium members to buy or display the club logo
Reason being if a paid up sticker wearing member misbehaves the committee can sanction that member and deal with them at club level
Also Premium members pay for the priviledge of wearing that logo, it shows they support their club
If a non financial member does something stupid in public it brings the whole club into disrepute - Mizta B. (CCJ Treasurer)

i think the organise cruise would be a good idea take some pics and send them to a mag with an article.
other thing is to make a flyer and if you see a nice cj just slip it under the wiper - i know lots of clubs do it this way

Ah site promo in print media... Can be expensive and ultimately not worth it or the effort that alot of people here would have to put in. Hot4s, Autosalon and the like all have an online component (websites, forums etc). Print media no longer sells as good as it use to, plus these days print is done in limited runs and alot get thrown out.
Online you would get far more exposure. Many people may only buy these magazines once, go through it and throw it in the bin. Then they would probably hit up the site. Site they can visit anytime and cost is next to nothing. Buying that magazine can be anywhere from $5 to $16. The people may only buy the magazine a couple times a year but hit up the site as often as daily.
You need to weigh it up. Print promo is expensive and limited, not everyone is willing to buy the magazine however they are more willing to visit the sites instead. In potential terms, you could be looking at 250k vs 1mil+
As for event stuff, I may be able to help with sponsors and stuff but that is a very big maybe because I could lose my job over it.

i think if we organise a cruise in each state on the one day, write up a little story about the club, saying about the cruises in each state all the time.

It is a good idea, but the issue with the plan is that I have a feeling that most of the people that read those sort of magazines would have googled mods which would have had a very good chance of coming across the site....
The next time I talk to Chris from Concord I need to talk about getting the site on his online magazine as a link....
Good ideas... keep them coming and we will work something out

is there any harm in trying this. hell we could try it with the Wakefeild run, get some nice pics of the Lancers racing and some else where, write a little story of the club and send it in. only saying Wakefield coz i thin its a good turn out of Lancers.
But yeah hit up Concord as well

I have no issue with it, I just don't think it is worth paying to go into the magazine as such. If they are happy to run it to promote the club I am all for it.
If we get some good pics, I can talk to Chris about running them in his online mag too...
I think the biggest thing is getting all the guests to join. There is a lot of guests that browse the forums. We need to get these guys to join rather than just lurking

What about if we use our best ROTM level cars and submit many entries into 'Reader's Rides' type of areas in Mags... obviously just making sure our club decal is prominently displayed in any pic.... Mentioning the club in your spiel about the car would also amplify...
I think if we did a concerted saturation approach, we would get our cars in there for free, and with a creative approach, the club would get recognised.

maybe set something up at the mitsubishi dealerships about the club or talk to the one the club is trying to do a group buy through and wen someone buys a lancer give them a card for the site? could be effective, just have to use the connections that everyone has
