hey guys
Wondering if someone could help me pin point a problem i have been having on and off for the last couple of months.
When turning on my car fans i get a vinegar type smell coming from the vents that last for a min or 2 and eventually goes away. I usually do turn the air con off when i know im close to my destination and leave the fan running as some people think it may be a build up of mold from the air con. Only weird thing is that i have noticed this happening when its particularly a hot morning.
Anyone have any ideas on what i can do, before i decide to take so a mechanic?
Cheers

Remove and replace the cabin filter.
Very easy job , no tools at all necessary.

Make sure the drain is working. Run it on fresh air for a few days to air it out. Autoglym make an Airconditioning deodorant that works well.

Hmmm that's a good idea, I do have a knack for running recycled air all the time.
Cool thanks mate, I have been looking at some of those Aircon cans, might order one today and get it done.
Cheers guys I'll see how I go and let yas know.

Also , run the heater as hot as you can for ten or twenty minutes.
I don't know how often you run your heater , but up here I never need to, so have to circulate the water sitting in the heater core now and again.

Yeah haven't really run since winter to tell you the truth. But worth a try as well.
Got some of that Autoglym and ran that and so far has worked wonders. I am also conscious of not using recycled air all the time which might have also contributed to the problem. So have started turning that off and using outside air when i turn my air con off to empty out prior to arriving to my destination.
But that Autoglym was also highly recommended by the guy at Autobahn bloke so thanks for the recommendation @lancerdarryl
Thanks for the input and help guys! Much appreciated.

It’s a pressure pack that gets discharged on to the evaporator under the dash while the fan is running flat out with recirc turned on
