Not a nice start to the day! - My first CJ crash.

Had a minor crash this morning *cry*
I was at a roundabout waiting to go across when a 80 Series LC hit me from behind, she accepted responsibility.
Got their details and a photo of the LC, ran a rego check and it matches.
Went to a panel shop I've used before just to get an idea of the cost and they said about $2500.
Also the boot won't close properly.
Hope they cough up, don't want to have to use my excess for something not my fault. *mad*

And here's the dash cam... not that it shows much. Really wish I had a rear camera.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BbnzKutrC_MBTW why can't we embed videos anymore?

No issue if you have insurance. You are 100% in the right so you won't have to pay for the excess. It happened to me recently and I also hired a loan car at other drivers expense.

I'm lucky in a way I can borrow my parents Pathfinder, still waiting on a call from the other party.
Notified my insurance so hope to hear something later today.
Its just annoying knowing I'll be without my car for probably a week or more while its being fixed.
BTW the rear camera looks okay, just pushed up a bit but still works.

Maybe, but need to see what the insurance says. Others have found if the repairs are not done with genuine parts they may not be covered.

Ouch!!! Let your insurance look after everything, contact them and discuss the prospects of using an RA rear end if you cover all extra costs.
Don,t accept a flat no. Ask them what responsibility you would have to accept for such an alteration, and if acceptable go for it. Excess to you looks like being 0.

On the phone to AAMI right now...
Will ask about RA bumper and any cost difference.
I can tell you I was shaken by it, ever though the impact was minor.

Most insurance companies will let you use any OEM parts on your car if cost is the same, some let you pay the difference.

I'll ask the repairer in the morning.

I'd ask the repairer too.. the insurance company is likely to simply say No.
The repairer on the other hand is getting paid no matter what he puts on and paints..

Does the exhaust tip need moving when going from VRX to RA bumper?

When I was rear ended I fitted a ralliart rear bumper but it costs about $500 more than the na bar.

RA parts are not cheap.
full RA bonnet from mitsubishi after my crash was quoted $1700 that includes the discount for the actual NA bonnet which is $875 as insurance would only pay for NA bonnet.
(it included all the vents, clips, paint, labor etc.)
so at full retail would have costed over $2500 + paint and labor
Wish i had the funds available at the time.
