Do you rev-match

Hey guys just a question for the manual drivers
Do you rev match while down shifting
I.e hitting the throttle to match the rpm with the wheel speed before you engage the gear
I personally don't do it as I'm not on a track anymore
And should I be doing it for daily driving?
Someone who has just got their p's was having a whine today as I drove him home and told me I need to be with a whole lot of excuses (apparently it puts extra wear on your engine mounts)?
But I've only ever used it on the track

Don't know about extra wear but I tend to tap the throttle a little but it depends on the situation. Just depends of how aggressive my driving is at that moment.
Is the P plate guy a mechanic or just a 'kid' who thinks he knows everything about driving and cars now they have a license?

He would be the second option lol
Did raise questions for me though as I've never seen it as necessary on The road

Haha probably. And heel and toe all at the same time while managing my 72 gears

Yep I'm the guy at the lights tapping the accelerator waiting for them to change, just another reason I like a manual!

That will be me once I get my meaty sounding exhaust
haha yeah I personally don't rev match I let the clutch do the work. Saves fuel

Haha! Too much movies.
I agree as Craig mentioned, it depends on the situation.
Based on the question itself, I do rev match when down shifting because, I'm down shifting.
Maybe another question would be 'when do you down shift'? Approaching a red light to stop? Turning corners and then accelerating? Changing lanes to overtake? Etc...
It all comes down to the driver. You will feel your car. If the driver really knows his/her car and knows what he's/she's doing, then there's no problem.
Rev match if you need to and not if you don't.

Through HWY roadworks at 80 I'll set the cruise control, assuming the traffic isn't to heavy. Now if I've had someone riding my bumper when I get to the 100 limit sign I'll rev match and down shift to 3rd for a quick getaway.

Yeah it seems like it's more appropriate for wanting to gain speed
Seems like there's no right or wrong way

Like everyone else has said, rev-matching on the downshift is optional in the car. I tend not to.
On the bike, it's a necessity. Otherwise your smooth downshift become a lumpy, lurching fsck-up.

Rev matching is FUN! and good practice for when you go for spirited runs :p
For the wear, id say less wear cause youre matching. But if you mis match then meh haha
But yeah cbf doing 24/7, depends on situation

I usually do it, double clutching, it's habit, unless I'm crawling around, but hen I have driven a lot of cars with crash boxes over the years. I think if yr pushing thru corners for a bit of fun it's necessary
