Fuel Economy logbook

This is just my weekly average consumption, which will be updated from time to time (or at least if I can measure it). The only mod I have so far is the removal of the mudguards. Aircon on around 80% of the time.

NEW

03/06: 10.34 mostly city driving with some traffic and one long drive to the airport

10/06: 10.64 mostly commuting to work with two trips near the city

17/06: 10.70 one long drive but with a bit of thrashing during the office rush

24/06: 10.525 which was mostly city and a few cruises.

01/07: 9.69 with normal office commute plus one trip to Geelong (was expecting something better though)

08/07: 10.08 office drive only, no highway cruises, so I would say there were signs of improvement

15/07: 10.93 with a bit of a leaded foot this time (can't drive efficiently due to office rush and the manual shift seemed to be more responsive now)

22/07: 10.36 with regular driving

29/07: 10.69 due to office rush and heck, it's fun to flog it through MIVEC!

05/08: 10.235 with about half V-Power. I need a few more fill-ups and see any improvement with better fuel.

12/08: 8.89 mostly V-Power in tank, had a trip to Riddels Creek where it averaged as low as 7.5, definitely an improvement over the Geelong cruise.

19/08: 10.035 filled with 2/3 Caltex Vortex, normal driving.

Anyone wanting to share their own economy numbers please post away.

Cheers

Honestly mate, those numbers are about right. I struggle to get mine down to 8-9. I give my car a good squirt now and then and it still manages to sit around 10-11l/100kms.

It'll drop over time. Mine is normally around 10L/100km with mostly city driving. Drops down to 7-8.5 if I take a trip out to my parents on the motorway. This is on the 2.4L so slightly thirstier too. I've done 7200km so far, and my mate reckons his MPS6 only really settled in around 15,000km to getting normal fuel consumption (if an MPS6 can really have normal fuel consumption haha..).

Give it time, you'll be hitting 7-8 soon enough! :)

I've filled my new Lancer ES a couple of times now, and have kept the consumption around 9.2-9.5lt/100km. It just had it's 1500km service yesterday. That's driving around town, and a little on the highway.

from one week of driving, mine is sitting on about 8.9L/100ks

I should add my long term fuel use average is about 8.9L/100km according to my LeasePlan statements which should be pretty accurate.

Some of you guys must be leadfoots :? I thought the fuel economy I was getting was bad and I like to give mine bit of a boot. I got about 7.3L/100km going to Canberra boomer and that included giving it a boot up Macquarie Pass and then alot of stop starting along the freeway. Even when I went to Melbourne fully laden, 2 passengers and with A/C on alot of the way (plus all the road works near the vic border) I got 6.7L/100km. Weird how yours is so high even if it is the 2,4L and CVT :?

Cheers for the heads up on that iPhone app too!!

Best I got was 6.1/100km on a trip to Ballina and back using accessories and cruise control - Pretty impressive on a 2.4Litre! 8)

Further to the discussions we're having on the chat board,

For those who don't already know, I work at the University of Melbourne, I need to take peak hour traffic via the Eastern Freeway into the city from my place about 17.4KM away.

Here's my typical morning reading:

To rub this in further, my car is sound deadened throughout (Melbourne members can vouch for this), so I'm technically carrying a child each time I drive.

I do 6.8L/100km if there's no traffic easily and I never exceed 110km/h.
