WOW  this is really exciting looks like we will finally see some more NA 4 cylinder RWD cars in Australia. Toyota says its 147Kw with a LSD! Definitely going to be a fun ride :o

Subaru claim there will not be a Turbo Model, there is no room

Subaru says that it will not turbocharge the engine as there is no space at the front of the engine bay for an intercooler.

"Plus, we want to keep turbocharging separate. It is for models like the WRX STi," said Atake.

"The same goes for four-wheel-drive. We could not make the BRZ four-wheel-drive even if we wanted to."

even though HKS have a turbo kit for the FT86

Think I prefer the toyota... the subaru's front end looks similar to the new mazda 3 which I'm not a big fan of

That Five Axis kit is pretty subtle at first glance. Not over the top which is great.

The 86 gets my vote. The front grill of the BRZ is too amphibious, like the AUS spec Forester. And yes that was an MCM reference.

I'll be waiting for the competitors - esp. if Hyundai genesis coupe makes it to our shores, I'll be the first on the pre order list.

The Toyota is quite tempting. It's probably the only car I'll like from their lineup. They've reintroduced high-power, high-rev engines when turbos are becoming more popular. We've waited for so long and it looks like it's worth it.

Those are some awesome videos!! It really makes me want to get my hands on one. haha.

They really push the fact that so much energy went into lowering the centre of gravity - I'm pretty sure it was mentioned at least once a minute. lol.

Thanks for posting the links Sam!

I'm hoping these two cars do well, and other companies bring in other alternatives.
I probably can't justify getting a brand new one for $40k+, but would be keen to look at a second hand one in a couple of years time.

They can't ask for Ralliart money for this. High 20 to low 30K sounds about right.
