spend $4500 on my comp a few years back upgraded video card and cpu since then. run two monitors 1x 19' samsung monitor and a 32' samsung lcd

also have a entry level laptop that just gets used when i am on the run

5 year old LG lw60 laptop

it does the job I only use it for text based programming which is very low end and of course CCJ.

Game system is a PS3.

I had an LW60.... awesome laptop!!

LG had such a good product back then, and they just didn't take off.... Shame really...

Haha I've also got an LW60!

Mine is 100% working except for the fact it doesn't work. The DC (?) input pin doesn't connect to the charger any more (charger definitely works tho). So since the battery can't charge and the laptop can't get any power, it's useless. Has a new battery and new keyboard too, but it is useless.

If anyone has any ideas on how to get the laptop charging it would be appreciated

so is the charger broken or is on the power supply on your laptop. My sister had an LG laptop that the cats knocked off the table and it broke the power socket (female part that charger plugs into) off the main board. What I had to do was pull it apart glue the plug back to the plastic surround then reconnect it to the main board with a drip of solder.

But yeah the LW60 has been great, only thing is when I reloaded it a while back for some reason windows does not recognize that is has a DVD burner installed, it only detects a DVD player/CD burner.

Only issue was the screen hinges had seen better days, as had the battery... I miss it.... although I do love my Dell too

You can take it apart and you might be able to solder a new plug on. The power plugs are usually easy to remove and replace on older laptops.

-2.25Tb HDD all Seagate (sorry WD fans but all the WD drives I've had committed suicide)

-Thermaltake 750W PSU (can’t remember the model)
-NVidia 8800GT
-22" LG.
-Logitech G15
-Logitech G9

That's about all I think.

Any one got CCNA? or NP or IE?

We do this at my work. We usually charge about $120 upwards for it. The amount of labor involved can often be deciveing. On some laptops you have to take the entire thing apart to get to the DC Jack. Part is only a few dollars, but its just taking it apart and soildering everything which is time consuming

Works, but power plug stuffed and CBF'd fixing it. Just sits in a drawer.

The red box is where the plug connects to the laptop but there is almost a shield around it with no screws to dissassemble. May have to lift the entire motherboard out of the chassis I guess.

I've never done anything worthwhile with a soldering iron in my life but it's probably worth a shot! I know the laptop works for sure though, I sat there watching it lose the last bit of battery power it had and then it didn't turn on again

Great with computers hardware and software wise, but pretty much useless when it comes to electrical stuff. Let's see what I can do with it though.

Charger definitely works, multimeter says it's outputting correctly.

No CCNA here, networking aside though I do play with some nice supercomputing clusters at work. We've got a small one with about 40 cores, and a big one (that we don't manage) with untold terabytes of storage and something like 200+ cores with just as much RAM. Some optic links between buildings and even a microwave link between different sites (again nothing I manage).
