Well I'm glad I popped in today. Wow, so sad about your predicament Fitter. Got me to call up RACQ today and update my policy with all the things that I've added to my car. I dont want something like that happening to me.

the loophole they used was that i hadnt notified them of an addition to the car - regardless of what it was.

i didnt tell them about it being in the car therefore they pulled my insurance.

i contested it to RACQ internal appeals board and they upheld the decision, and then to the Insurance Ombudsman and he/she sided with RACQ

someone (sam?) menationed they could defeat me in court saying the stereo can go over a certain dB level, any car stereo can, even factory ones breach 100dB without the addition of a subwoofer (proven march 2006 when i scored 117dB on factory 5x7 and factory 6x9 speakers)

when this all happened (nov 21 2007) i refused to ever go back to RACQ

Shannons wont touch me, Just Car wont touch me... both citing that my cars are deemed a "high theft or vandalism" target due to having in excess of $20 000 worth of stereo inside them (even though i dont change the outside of the car)

AAMI gave me FULL comprehensive insurance on my $2500 1992 Nissan Pintara that had over $50 000 worth of stereo on agreement that i NEVER altered the outside of the vehicle... no paintjob, no body kit, no mags etc.

i agreed :)

i now have my CJ with AAMI and youve all seen or heard of the stereo gear im running, more competition grade gear - $5500 just one one amp

I rung aami to get my springs added and it cost 50 bucks a year to have them included ($400) springs and also 50 a year to have 4k new rims insured on the wrx sounds like every mod is just 50 bucks

normally i wouldnt disclose this, but i pay my insurance monthly with AAMI.
i know this adds up to be more then if i paid it once a year, but monthly is just easier for me.

$93.25 per month full comprehensive insurance

now, im also 28 years old with rating one and platnium membership with no accident claims :D

NRMA dont require a list of mods, only that the car is roadworthy.

i remember when i had some front body damage my aftermarket rim had some gutter rash which they fixed with no questions asked, even to the extent of sending the rim off for buckle testing.
