Why is that mitsu not producing a new Lancer or lancer evo??

Postby evo9990 » Mon Apr 01, 2013 5:12 am

I have realised that subaru have been producing new shapes of the impreza and wrx sti but yet still the Mitsubishi lancer and the evolution still have the shape since 2008 and not coming up with new shape and features. I hope in the couple of years time they will come up with a new model (EVO11)

the intentions of mitsubishi seem quite unclear as we havent seen any real future concepts except for the outlander. i have read that want to move more into eletrical and hybrids cars which may bring a whole new range instead of adapting the current range. In saying that the Lancer is one of the most popular cars on the road today due to cheap costs and variable options. It wouldnt make sense for them to drop the lancer range. Also there is a ralliart or performance range of cars (colt, RA, Evo), must have to continue with these three somewhere. Hopefully Mitsubishi will reveal something new this year as they now have had roughly the same design for the last 5 years.

As for the WRX, still only a concept design which isnt expected to be put into production until 2015. Things could change in between now and then. May not even go into production

but anyway there is my 2 cents

Mitsubishi are running with the current model lancer until the end of 2014 as the car it's self is to shows storing sales amongst its competitors there will be a new model lancer produced in 2015 :) this is what has been reports I have read and it's only due to the success of the Cj model
1998 MR lancer
2009 CJ lancer sportback
2011 Renault Sport RS250 Trophee Cup
2000 Tommi Makenin Evolution 6.5

i totally agree. I also thought that maybe mitsubishi doesnt want to produce a new model each couple of years cause it gets boring. but they take a while till they produce a new shape so we can be excited for the new one and not buy when and hear that theres a new one coming up in a couple of months.. makes sense lol :D

The CJ Lancer is getting pretty outdated now. In small-car comparisons in recent months, it'll end up close to the Kia Cerato at the bottom of the list, which is also old and cheap.
However, the CJ Lancer has done well for Mitsubishi and the sales numbers seem decent without having to do excessive marketing.

The new Lancer should come out late this year or early next year, but considering the way the new Outlander and Mirage/Colt's looks turned out, I wouldn't be too excited. Whether or not the RA and Evo will be replaced is still in question. There's nothing but rumours, hybrid, diesel hybrid, etc. It doesn't help Mitsubishi after they withdrew from WRC a number of years back and also jacked up the price of the X. It now costs almost the same as a BMW 135i.

Someone told me that there should be a design once every 6-7 years.
Can't wait to the next one. I hope it has a sharper look.

I reckon.. the Lancer was the only car in the $15000 market that stood out to me the most. I remember my friend telling me about it and when I saw it I thought "I need to get that car." Just brilliant

I still like the looks of the CJ Lancer, although it is maybe getting to the stage for Mitsbubishi to release a new shape Lancer!

However at least we will all still have the current shape Lancer for a little while longer! :D

They are making a new evo and lancer, idk what this thread is really about...

I'm a little disappointed there weren't really any 'updates' to the current gen, but at the same time thats doing most of us a favour when its time to sell ours.

Its probably been successful enough that they haven't needed to touch it, and I also think Mitsubishi has been torn between going eco and risking ruining their flagship car (they finally decided what to do with the evo, but I haven't heard anything about the lancer?). The lancer is their money-maker, they need to get it right.

Its not like the current-gen impreza is a threat though, it looks like a cross between a bulldog and a corolla. Hell the gen before that only looked good in WRX spec after the update.
Those are opinions of course :P

yes, true that. The lancer still looks sharp next to all the new cars thats coming out of production in this year and before. People still love how the lancer is like. But @Tomo, if it takes them 6-7 years to make a new one, thats too long haha oh well, i still like mine and how it looks :) :D

@Andre, i agree with you! :D

@ Jake. i agree with you. i guess mitsubishi waits for subaru to produce the wrx, then Mitsubishi would study how the new lancer would beat by the looks.
I hope the new shape just looks good. Cant wait for them to release it
