Price is the Evo's biggest letdown. You can buy a 135i or IS350 for about the same money, and both of which are just as fast yet much better built inside and more useable on an everyday basis. Even that horrid STi is outselling it because it's cheaper.

Hopefully sales pick up and the price cut will also be done on the RA so more would be on the road as well.

I also did realise that the RA is a lot more expensive than the VRX. RRP is currently at $44,500, more than $10K higher than its cosmetic lookalike. Does it really cost that much more to get 4WD and turbo?

^^ my wife bought a car about 5 years ago (in pre-wife times) from mazda.
brand new Mazda3
paid sticker price. got all the stupid upgrades (mats, paint protection, roadside assist etc)
got finance through mazda which again, she took at face value.
got taken to the cleaners, basically.

she didn't know you're supposed to bargain
she was single at the time, parents don't live in town...
so yes, it does happen
