Apocalypse has hit Perth...

Postby Graham » Tue Mar 23, 2010 8:15 am

How's everyone after the storm??

We lost power in Thornlie at 4pm and it's still out at the moment.
Our house was flooding a little bit because of gutters being full

The roof fell on my car...!!
Checked the damage today and it just looks like its scratched, some of it should hopefully come off with a polish or something..

Some of my work colleagues cars sound like they're going to be written off by the hail damage too

I honestly didn't think the storm would be this bad, I've never seen anything like it before.

I got a call from mum (who works in the city) that basically went 'zomg get your car in the garage now'.
So I did.
A minute later it was like a years rain hit at the same time.
No hail here, and our house held up ok. One day our garage roof will cave in but not this time!
I was standing in the garage and was convinced the door wasn't going to hold, but there was nothing I could do (huge warping and one of the clips broke).

Other than plants and crap, we're fine. Just one tiny leak through a window.

Graham, sorry about your car! Sounds like it'll be fine after some work though. Probably not the only one in CCJ with a story like that :(.

Did you hear Jacob's Ladder (stairs on the edge of king's park) mudslided into the apartments underneath? Nobody was hurt though apparently.
And GO thornlie tree man. Even though I think he has mental problems, hes serious business. :D

Am so disappointed in the news. There was no warning on tv, then when the news later came on they just did a normal-sized weather segment. Actually most of it was about the Eagle's football session being cancelled. Idfc! Then they said there was more storms to come 'late evening' but it didn't.

And lol, wouldn't be surprised if that WAS the wet season. :P

Damnnn sorry to hear that guys :( We were lucky, my mum's car only had a few dents in the roof of her car, and my CJ was garaged. I accidently left my bedroom window open so half my room was wet.

Other than that we didn't have any damage apart from plants. Have you seen the architecture library Rahul? It got flooded with a metre of water, everything under a metre got screwed. Even the bloody 15 million dollar science library was damaged.

Feel so lucky that I've got no major damage.

I got home not long ago and a light (big huge glass cover and metal fitting and everything) is just hanging by its power cable from the ceiling. That was random.
And a tree in the tafe carpark fell on a car. It was a pink excel though so no probs.

Not much in perth is designed for storms so we get screwed pretty hard when theres one like that :P

The ARROGANCE nature has to make today nice and sunny.

Shit!! some of thost stories sound bad..

I feel sorry for your mate with the A5... I really hope insurance fix his issue.. most likely be a write off though

I've been sent some emails today at work, pictures of car dealers with cars absolutely raped by hail and flash flooding in train station/uni's and people riding bikes in like meter high water lol.. cars drowned in water...

NoR had it much worse than SoR I think.

Hey all, sorry to here about ur car troubles n damages :( u guys got insurance?

The two CJs in our garage were fine, we got a recently built brick garage with two doors, one on each side, we close them all up. they were sealed tight until the storm was over. (i havent got my CJ yet) and apparently there was only one mitsubishi that got damaged in perth that was sitting in the car yards. and it wasn't from skippers in vic park. they all held up. and in other car yards, not sure what ones but 100% of the cars outside got damaged :(

Our balcony was nearly overflowing with water, the drains broke so we had to go out there in the heavy rain and lightning and scoop all the water off ourselves :( then someone almost brought out a big broom with a metal handle..... until i told them that its not a good idea lol. almost flooded the entire upstairs if we didnt get all the water out.
