Reported stolen Blue Lancer

Postby Deej » Wed Feb 09, 2011 10:15 am

Hey everyone, just thought that I would post the link up onto this site from a news report on news.com.au about a stolen blue lancer in Toowong at 9pm last night. Hope it wasnt any CCJ members, but I just thought that it would be a good idea for members to keep an eye out for this car seeing that we do tend to notice other CJ's a lot more than the average person out there.

My apologies for not being able to post a direct link as I havent done this before.

Cheers,

Thanks for the information :) Have passed it around at work - I know a few people that live out those ways... Very concerning :(

Yeah poor bloke. If I was him I would have like to have raid havoc with the punks car who thought it was a bright idea in the first place. But at least they have caught who was responsible and now hopefully justice will be served.

Yeah agreed beck, hope he gets a lengthy jail term which I doubt the way the system is these days. I'm presuming these car jackings are a result of the difficulty of able to steal a car these says with the improved security etc..??
You would rarely hear of a car jacking 15 or so years ago.
You have to be so careful these days especailly around shopping centers and if you happen to park in a isolated place.

172cm's hes a little fellow. Looks like they're jacking cars, going for joy rides then dumping them.
Red goes faster. MUCH faster.

Just out of curiosity, does the smart key going out of range (after the car jacking) with it being in the owners pocket not disable the car?

I have a VR so not really clued on the whole smart key thing. Just wondering if that could be a safety mechanism built into the smartkey systems.

smart key must be inside the cabin to start the car. it annoys the hell out of me when im standing next to my car and i go to start it and it wont start until i have my pocket with my keys in it inside the car. if you ever see me doing some weird looking dance at a meet its probably to start the car without the keys being in it.

but removing the key only make it beep and carry on, and shows a warning message on the screen. it won't cut out the engine, even after a while

I find that beep annoying when I step out of the car for a minute. But it would be a good safety feature if it turned the engine off after a minute or two.

It would certainly help in a car jacking, especially if you have your kids in the back seat. I have heard of a few car jacking where that has happened. It is a parents worst nightmare.

I wonder if Mitsubishi could program it in as a feature?

Ugh went to lock the car at the petrol station the other day and couldn't find my keys in the car (they fell under the seat). I must have looked like a real idiot standing at my car next to the pump trying to find them.

Looks like I better upgrade my cars security then as it being an ES. Glad to see that punk that stole the car was caught hopefully the victim gets compensation to get the car repaired or replaced
