I decide to turn right into a side street that I've never been in before. Turns out there's a massive ditch in the road. The sound of bottoming out was loud enough to wake the neighborhood.
This is the damage it caused.
From a different angle
Bloody pathetic. Talked to a local and turns out they've been petitioning it to be fixed for years. I wasn't even going fast, maybe 35km/h. It's almost impossible to see it coming as well, especially in the night.

Which council is it?
If the council are aware of the problem then they are liable. Eg if there is a hole on the footpath or the concrete is cracked and you do an ankle, if the council are aware of it they have to pay for your medical bills etc. The hardest thing is proving that they are aware of the problem.
At the moment, the council are doing up Beckett Rd at Bridgeman Downs (and of course my street is smack in the middle of all the roadworks) and I have already contacted the council in regards to the many stonechips that I have recieved as well as the chip in the windscreen, and once all the roadworks has been completed I will be sending them the bill to fix it.
Contact your local member and the council

It's the Brisbane council.
The road isn't damaged or anything, the ditch is actually meant to be like that. Its ridiculously designed. Ill take a photo tomorrow.
Bris Council are doing up our street at the moment (in Manly - lots of old trees ripping up our street was was well past due). They dropped a letter in the box last Mon to tell us they were going to prep the next day from 7-4 (did nothing but make our driveway have a sharp 2/3 inch drop to the road and leave our RA so dusty). Today received a letter telling us they would resurface tomorrow. Oh yay...
