Hi everyone,

I know it's been a very long time since the incident happened but I haven't forgotten to let you know how it's ended. The car never showed up but I've finally got the payout from the insurance company. They sure like to take their time with it, i.e leaving the file around unassigned until you call them 3 times.

Sounds like GIO are a little slow with their claims...which sucks cos that's who I'm insured with too!

I got the good ol' white again with paint protection so sap won't be so much a problem anymore.

Glad to hear you chose a Lancer again! Good choice

Now I'm a tiny bit worried as the seller of my car only gave me one set of keys and said he lost the other... In any case, he lives 400kms away from me and my car is in a locked garage with two other cars behind it at most times!

Just be careful then! Unlikely that anything will happen though. I wish I had a garage to put mine in.

I think some insurance companies deliberately process theft claims longer to discourage people from faking that their cars were stolen. It also seemed like those perps were really eyeing that one car of yours and not just a random vehicle. That is such a hassle, but thankfully no one was hurt and you ended up with a new car. I hope the second Lancer won't have any bad luck.
