Yeah assuming the clips don't give you trouble its not even a 5 minute job even if you haven't tried before. And its only a $20ish part like people say.
And who cares about bacteria jeez. It's a car not a public toilet.

20$-30$ part.
Ryco is a good substitute for the OEM.
Anti-Bacteria i would call bogus.

I was quoted $160 at my last service, I promptly told them to jump in a lake
Today I decided to have a go myself... The easiest maintenance you could ever do. Will never ever get my car serviced with Mitsubishi ever again after that.
Took the missus' Mazda2 to a local guy, and he quoted me the RRP for the filter and added no margin on top. Just included in the service labour.

So they charge something like $150 to put in basically a new filter. Thanks for the heads up when mine becomes due.
And on that, how long should they last and does the computer give you a warning when they are due to be changed.
Lastly, they are behind the glove box or something aren't they?

No warning, don't recall ever getting mine done, I have done 80,000 ks in 6 years.
I would recommend doing it at least 50,000 kms because mine was filthy.
Behind glove box, it is a white rectangle thing.

Not sure if mines ever been done, it's done over 90k. Might take a look to see over the weekend.
Any pics on just how clean they should be.
So can you get them from the dealer for like $30?

Not sure on dealer price.
It'll be obvious when you take it out if you need to replace it. They get leaves, dust, old skin cells and crap in them.
If you've got an air compressor and a good aim (so to not blow it back in your face!) - then you can probably just blow the crap back out of it (i.e air compressor blowing air on the back of it) and job done.

Is it a normal thing they service/clean or just replace at set km's?
Sorry for all the Qs

No idea if it is a normal thing, but mine was filthy.
You will know if it needs replacing, mine looked like a full vacuum filter.
I got mine from Autobarn. The original seemed a little sturdier, but doubt it would have a material impact.

they should be replacing them. they are a cheap enough part.
