A quick heads up, that the site will be taken offline for a move to another virtual server.

Unfortunately this has come about due to the handing over of the club (Click http://clubcj.net/viewtopic.php?t=9819 for the details) and the inability of our hosting provider's billing system to split off the ClubCJ virtual server instance from the existing billing account (under Mattigin's name) to a new account. Hence the only option is to create a new account under the club's name with a new server and move the data across.

I've timed the work so it co-incides with Monday morning business hours of our hosting provider, in case I hit any snags and need to engage them, without suffering the support vacuum and prolonged down time like we did last month during our server upgrade.

I do not anticipate any problems this time around, the actual downtime may vary and might be as little as a couple hours.

For those that are desperate for CCJ during the downtime, you may entertain yourselves over at http://www.facebook.com/ClubCJ - same forum rules apply over there as they do here....

We'll also update you via the Facebook fan page if I run into problems or manage to have a painless upgrade and finish the migration quickly...

You'll know if you have the new server as you'll see "New Server" on the top left hand corner of the web page. If things don't go to plan, i will roll back to the current server and re-attempt the next evening again.

Regards,
VRX_Pete.
ClubCJ.net Administrator.

Pete wouldn't be better to do the upgrade later? Maybe a Tuesday or Wednesday as the US is a day behind. Monday here will be Sunday in the US.

Just a reminder this is going ahead in less than 23 hours now.

I've just deployed some changes to enable a quicker and smoother transition by modifying the global DNS server records (the servers that convert the site name to a numerical IP address), to re-check for updated records every 10 mins, instead of the customary 24hrs and pointed the authorative server to our new box.
Hopefully this should not cause problems reaching the site until the cutover happens. :)

At this stage, will all the prep work. I dont expect an outage for anything more than 1hr, probably less. :)

All done. I've tested most of the features of the site and everything seems to be in order, functioning and no errors.
If you do see anything in terms of odd behaviour, errors, site slows. Let me know in this thread.....
...time for bed for me. :)

Easiest and quickest migration I've ever done with no residual hiccups. Locking.
