FAQ's - What do the points received for each post stand for?

The subject pretty much says it all but what do the points received at the end of each post go towards or stand for. I think someone asked this elsewhere but the response stated that the answer could be found elsewhere. I however cannot seem to find it.

When we have our online shop up and running you will be able to save money on ClubCJ Merchandise and other goodies....
for example 10,000 points = 1% off or 10,000 points = $1 off.
we have to work out this properly but it will be something like that.
(these were are just examples)
also they are used for our competitions to decide the Winner in the event of a draw,
The more points the better!

Hopefully in the long run it will work out, I spend about $1500 per year on textbooks!
