Watch out for kangaroos....

Ok here's my little adventure for today. I was heading down a road i'm very familiar with and was turning left around a roundabout. Out from nowhere i see this kangaroo in the middle of the road and instinctively i swerve to the left off the road. i went over the gutter and into a ditch, missing a metal and concrete pole by about 10 feet. if i had been on the ball i could have swerved the other way onto grass but it all happened so fast. i had 3 passengers in the car.
here's the lucky part. no one was hurt, and there is almost no damage to the car whatsoever. small scratching under the front bumper and a little bit of cracked paint. barely noticeable.
take a look. its almost on a 45 degree angle :S
i had to be towed out. the check engine light was on for about half an hour but turned off. the cruise control stopped working but i just disconnected the battery for a few minutes and that fixed that. i'll probably have it checked anyway just to be sure but it still drives and runs fine. no damage to wheels or steering or anything

ouch, kangaroos have a nasty habit of popping out of no where. happened in my astra a few years back at night, luckily i only clipped its head, still cracked up my bumper paint and mangled my mud guard.

When I used to do a lot of runs down to the Riverina near Wagga I had Shu Roos installed. Check Graham's members ride thread..
They just stop Kangaroos in their tracks!!
Glad to hear everything is ok Stalker, could definitely been much worse.

Oh that picture looks nasty! It is good you are all okay. I'm glad there was not too much damage.
Note new mod may be required"roo bar", I have not seen one on a Lancer yet!

Nevermind the Spirit in Rally, is there any Spirit left in Stalker, I reckon he did shit, so he's out of that for now.
As for your Avatar "Stalker", I reckon the Roo stalked you !!!
Similar thing happened to a mate whilst we were driving a Torana in 1976 through National Park late one afternoon, except this was a slow animal (huge TURTLE). Nedless to say, there was'nt enough sump left to talk about.
Hope your car is all "OK" , you and your passengers also.

glad everyone is ok, its funny how everyone tells you if there is an animal on the road NOT to swerve, but you just do. ive seen too many accidents like this (living in the country) and ive seen worse outcomes. so its good to see everyone is ok. you know, a car can always be replaced but a life cant.

yeah well if i had hit the kangaroo it woulda caused more damage than it did so im pretty lucky in that respect. and it hasnt really shaken me or my passengers either. once we saw the everyone was ok and the car was ok we could all have a bit of a laugh about it. it was a pretty soft ride. these lancers are sturdy cars lol

Kangaroo's suck!
Good to see that the car is still okay, it could of been much worse!
I try not to swerve for kangaroo's animals now because I'd much rather hit it than hit a tree, if I feel I can safely swerve then I will, but going 80 on a hilly road I won't

yeah well i was doing about 60 through a large roundabout. the posted limit but still faster than i should have been around a corner. its just im so familiar with that road i got confident. never expect anything like this to happen

Stuff goes wrong at random times
I'm always so much more cautious driving through the hills now though.. I can't believe how lucky I was with the way I drove before and didn't hit a roo or a tree!

Expect the unexpected! Nice work Adam haha
Glad to hear everything is OK though. As for your check engine light, sounds like the wheel speed sensor might've picked up a bit of dirt or a stick or something. Nothing major if it has gone away though.
