i was at tafe today parked my car on the street

i finished my exam early and came out to my car everything looked fine go in and drove off down the street i got onto the bypass and when i took my foot off the accelator i could hear a cluncking noise like i had a rock or a screw in my tyre.. i wasnt to happy as i just bought 2 new fronts

i get home tell my dad took him for a ride we blew the fronts up coz they looked a bit flat.. noise still there.. then as i was about to take it to the mechanic dad decided to check one thing and the wheel nuts were loose

so it seems when i was at tafe somone wanted my rims and go to the locking wheel nut and couldnt get any further so they only loosened 2...

so thank god for locking wheel nuts!!!

Thats unfortunate but great that they couldn't get the wheels mate..

It's definately a must with wheels to have lock nuts.. wouldn't want to find your car on bricks.. Glad to hear though mate that all is good otherwise

Wouldnt happen to have security cameras in the parking lot would they?

Gotta love wheel nuts, honestly, if i went to steal someones wheels that would be the first thing i look for rather than working my ass off to get 2 of them undone just to find that there is a lock nut holding them on.

Lucky for me my wheels are held on by NOTHING BUT lock nuts mwuahahhaa. How you like me now thieves!!!

It's quite horrible what people do these days. They attempt to steal and if they can't, they leave your car in an unsafe state and if not for the lock it would have gone off the car and caused an accident, life-threatening even.

Flashy wheels are simply thief magnet sometimes if you have enough cash you'd invest on 5 sets of locks to get each and every nut secured so that no one would even bother to steal them.

I dont get these guys?? so they were going to rip off all 4 wheels & leave it on blocks in broad daylight?

Not suspicious really...

Be careful where you store your locknut tool as well, I've heard of incidents where these scumbags have broken in & ransacked console for it & made off with your wheels anyway.

dodgy people out there!
That's why I remove anything of value from line of sight outside the car

leaving a radar detector or gps unit mounted to the dash = easy smash and grab...

Good to hear that they failed at stealing your rims though!

ROFLOL classic :D

Mitch:
Yea mitch really glad to hear you still got your rims mate. I've had my car sabotaged (a long self tapping screw and L bracket into tyre), really not happy bout that, now I'm not inclined to leave my car around there anymore.

What makes matters worse in your situation is that it's TAFE that you go regularly so you can't just say na not parking there anymore. Do they have any secure parking areas around there you can use?

my brothers commodore got broken into at TAFE one day, there was this one guy in the class and everyday he left early a car got broken into. when my brother got to the car, the lock was smashed and the steering wheel was cut in two place to remove the club lock and the ignition was broken too. lucky for the kill switch no one knew about. there was blood all over the seat and steering wheel + a $500 pair of sunnies. the next week the guy came into class with his arm bandaged and no Sunnies.

he got cought when he broke into the teachers car. but still no cameras.

I even hide the aux cable for my ipod. Everything else... yeah, well out of sight.

I've had a car stolen too, admitadly it was like 30 years old and didn't have an imobiliser or kill-switch but yea... anything like that sucks.
