2.0L or 2.4L???

Ok... some might remember when I joined up that I was under the impression that my car was the 2.4L but I was informed it was intact the 2.0L.

Well i got my car serviced by Mitsubishi today and on the service tax invoice under Year/Make/Model its states clearly;

"08/MITSUBISHI/LANCER 2.40T S4 MIVEC 5MT" and "Model No: CJ1S41" and "Engine No: 4B11 BR4267"

Correct me if im wrong but this states that I should have a 2.4L?

Should I ask them about it?

Brad

I thought all the 4b11 were 2.0 and the 4b12 were 2.4l. Something sounds screwy dude. Would certainly check that out. If it says it should have a 2.4 in it, then take it back and get them to put a 2.4 in it.

There is obviously some confusion there - as they are calling it a 2.4L in the start of teh description, but referring to it as a 4B11 later on.

2.0l are 4B11 and 2.4 are 4B12. If your VRX is MY09 and was bought brand new, it will have the 2.4. If your VRX is MY08 and was bought second hand or old stock, then it will have the 4B11, 2.0L. It appears from your garage pics that you have the old style VRX tail light assemblies, indicating you have an MY08 - so a 2 litre is under your bonnet and 4B11 would be correct.

someone may be getting a new car soon ... . All this sounds very dodgy.

2.0L = 4B11
2.4L = 4B12

There is NO SUCH thing as a 2.4L 4B11 at point of sale.

Eventually, someone will try to mod the 4B11 but at point of sale? No way... .

have you checked all the paper work to make sure everything matches?

I would say that the person that entered the info into the system on the service invoice for your car entered 2.4L by mistake, thinking all VRX had the 2.4L

I used to get this all the time with my T-Series which had a 5.6L stroker, but on some of my service invoices it had 5.0L and on other it had 5.6L, you would think the dealers should know better, but it was a low volume build so sometimes the person filling in the details on the invoice would list it as a 5.0L as they didn't know about the limited 5.6L engine, But I would think it wouldn't be as confusing with the Lancer 2.0L and 2.4l.

I think you'd need to check your sales reciept. If it states 2.4L there and you paid in good faith for one but find a 2.0L under your hood, you can ask for a replacement!

I have read your engine number Brad, it says 4B11.

And you have all the MY08 VRX features, and none of the MY09 features.

why dont you just check your plates under bonnet open your bonnet and look at the little metal plate just to the right of the very front of your bonnet, tells you your engine model ie 4B11/4B12 and other stuff. Yr of make is on your plates on the drivers side sill. as well as vin number. i think you can find out what it is from that cant you? as well.
