I would have proposed that the RA be called VR4 instead, but GSR is also good. Mitsu have used this in sporting models in the past, and currently in the mid-spec Evo. It is a misnomer, however, to use it for what's pretty much a watered down VRX. They are just out of sorts and sorely need a new model to come out (but good for us because our rides remain the newest).

"Compared with the VRX, it only misses out on sat-nav and a nine-speaker stereo."

Not really watered-down if all you're missing out on is satnav and a few speakers...

Hope it's not limited to just the sportsback though.

Not sure if I'm right on this, but the last time they did an N/A version of a Lancer GSR was during the CB Lancer days of old.

Nice to see the tag back on the N/A I guess.. but I would've preferred if they actually made it worth to hold the GSR tag. (in my opinion, it should've been a VR-X with AWD on it or something like that).

Honestly I do not think that it is "worthy" so to say of the gar title based off of the previous iterations

Why, there were plenty of good EVO/GSR combinations over the generations of the lancer

Yeah imagine in a few year's time in car classifieds:

Selling - 2014 Mitsubishi Lancer GSR.

You'd have to clarify whether it's the Lancer GSR hatch or the Lancer Evolution GSR.

So the Sportback will only come in this one model from now, and it has a 2.4 litre engine. Will they ditch the 2.0 from the sedan lineup too? I can imagine ditching the smaller capacity engine, and market the hell out of the 'sporty' image of a 2.4 engined Lancers with a packed added standard equipment list.

the 2.0 is only available in the turbo anyway

Agree - something a little more 'special'

I know exactly what you mean. I once tried searching for a BMW M3 in eBay, and the results came up with all that 318i blah blahs with M3 look and not the real thing - really annoying.

But an Evo owner selling his car should place Evo before GSR in the ad anyway, and it's relatively easy to spot over an NA.

Probably from the owner crying into the fuel tank...!
