90% of insurance jobs are not sprayed in a booth. thus the shit paint all ways comes with a insurance job. High price and low quality as its just a insurance job to them and less effort is given in quality

Which insurance company are you with if u don't mind me asking? If your part of any suncorp insurance (excluding Shannon's) then that explains it all.
Honestly rear damage like that cost 5.5k to fix I'm not surprise about the dodgy job.
My old man CG lancer recently got rear ended and his damage was nowhere near as bad as yours and got quoted by my panel beater for 9.5k using only genuine parts.
Since they already fixed your car, point out all the dodgy work and make them redo it till ur happy.
But my advise to u is never use any of the insurance recommended panel beaters unless u know of the workshop work.
Time to look for a prestige panel beater and friend them for future reference :)

I'm with sgic , if u know about I have dealt with quite a few insurance company's and they do have to pay for where u want to send the car .... That's why it didn't go to my crash repairer because he was too expensive there is nothing I can do about that I had to go where they told me ... Second to that this is a prestige crash repairer as they are the only ones in Adelaide authorised by Ferrari to fix these cars ... The work it's self isn't doggy as such however I think it's was more rushed

I'm pretty sure's Mark's insurer's offers a choice of repairer. I shudder to think what I'll have to go through if my car is ever in an accident one day. >.<

Hmm, not too sure how his insurance works. But with mine, if the quote from my repairer is more expensive than what was quoted by the insurer's repairer. We can still choose our own repairer provided we agree to pay the difference out of our own pocket.

I was under the impression that's how it works with most insurers that offer a choice of your own repairer.

You need to read ur insurance policy very carefully. Some insurance do offer choice of repairer on the condition that "u may pick ur own repairer but a quote is needed and they will compare it with there own quota and pick the cheapest one.
Just cause u got a quote from ur preferred repairer doesn't me they will send him the work so technically u don't get to choose who gets the job
In the end the final choice lies with insurance and it sound very much like ur insurance had the final say
It's the wording of the policy that lets them do this and u can't do anything about it. I would suggest u read ur policy in more details again to c where the tricky wording is regarding choice of repairer.
Hope this helps clear some stuff up

You're lucky! I'm jealous! I guess it depends on repairer then. When I was looking into insurance companies, most of them offer a choice of repairer but will make you pay the excess if the quote given by their repairer is significantly cheaper.

Shannons was a no go for me. The amount I got quoted for a year was $1600+. most of the other insurers were after $900+. Maybe because I was still under 25 then.

I just read the fineprint of Suncorp's insurance policies.

If you choose your own repairer, which may include one of our own
recommended repairers:
– after you obtain a quote from your repairer, we will arrange a time with you to drive your car (if it
is safe to do so), or you must let us move it, to one of our assessment centres or repair facilities,
or another location nominated or agreed to by us;
– we will authorise the repairs if we agree your repairer’s quote is reasonable and will result in your
car being repaired safely and in a cost effective manner.
If we don’t authorise repairs
If we don’t authorise repairs, we will pay you what it would have cost us to repair your car and the
lifetime guarantee will not apply. The amount we pay is normally determined by obtaining a quote
from a repairer we choose.

Shannon's do have a proper "choice of repairer" policy whereas the rest of suncorp don't
And Shannon's do insure under 25's but on there policy it clearly stats they only cover over 25's so have fun trying to make a claim while ur under 25 cause they do have grounds to bluntly reject ur claim and u can't do anything about it

Quote:
- If you choose your own repairer, which may include one of our own
recommended repairers
- we will authorise the repairs if we agree your repairer’s quote is reasonable

The above policy quote "may" in the first line and "if" in the second line are key words that will screw u over when necessary
