You can't access the menu in the middle of the speedo without having the handbrake engaged. Also you can turn the beep off and set it to give you different averages.

Why can't we have the long term avg speed and fuel (b) set to be on our screen all the time?? If I go to manual mode to find out what the long term avg speed and economy are, it will go back to the normal mode when ignition is switched off and on again.

If you are in the car and lock the doors, you can unlock them again by opening the door

there has been alot of talk about the Speedo being out therefore throw your Ks out aswell, UNTRUE

tested it by using the Speedo Check signs that they have on the side of the road, (mine is about 0.2ks out over 5ks) plus if you reset the Fuel Average while driving you will see that the computer speed reads lower than the speedo.

Which equates to 1km in every 25km. Over a period of time it all adds up.

Lancers equipped with factory alarm will actually activate the system if you jack up the car with the doors locked.

Did you know..... that it's not just the Lancers. All newer cars actually go slower than the speedo says. Some are out by 5km/hr or more. That's probably one of the reasons that older cars zip past newer ones on the highway. The newer ones have their cruise control set on 100 for example but they are actually doing 95-97. The older cars (my old Bubble for instance) have more accurated speedos and are actually doing the 100. It just looks like they're speeding past because they're on the speed limit and you're actually below it.

Hubby used to go along at 110 on the Freeway and I'd be behind him and my Bubble would be doing close to 100. Mine was right. The Craptiva was wayyyyy out. I'd then get into trouble for going past him and pulling away. He'd ring me and up me. I used to tell him to keep up because I was the one actually doing the speed limit.

I usually set my CC at 103 to make up for that. A hell of a lot of people still rush by me though. Last week going along the Golden Hwy between Sandy Hollow and Singleton I was on 103 in a 100 zone and people were past me and gone. Obviously the speed limit is just a guide that you don't have to stick to. Or be anywhere near.

I have an old Festiva and I've tracked it with a GPS to see the speed accuracy is under by 1-2/100km per hour. But with underinflated tyres, it can increase to around 5/100km.
