Scratched my CJ Ggrrrrr

Postby Kav91 » Mon Jan 31, 2011 12:29 pm

Some guy was parked with his 4wd drive on the line, so i decided to park closer to the pole, nobody was in the backseats so I was like don't need to worry about anyone being in the backseat hitting it.

I brought the front in , and some how I didnt realise how close i was, and it scraped the front door handle and the back end

Trying to be safer and park further from the 4wd and my carefulness backfires >.<I>.< or any good places, I'm in sydney, kellyville

sheeet, never a good feeling mate. Dont worry the first scratch is the hardest. Ive got a couple of small ones now.

That looks like it shouldnt be to bad to fix, no panel damage or anything. And ive been told white is the cheapest to get repainted, not sure how true that is, but it makes sense cause its not a metallic colour.

yea had a friend in the passenger side to, he didnt think I was going to hit it either once the front got in.

on top of that in my dads garage were I park , because he has a work bench in front, I only have less than 10cm front and back, and I park against his work shelf thing with the side mirror right up next to it.

Still can't figure out how I managed to screw to screw it up. :(

wow lol spot on buddy, rouse hill shops it was

i must have parked next to the typical 4wd stay at home mum who parks right on the line to give herself an entire door and a half of opening space

had hills district smash repairs take a look

guy said back door maybe able to get away with buffing, taking it back at 4pm to see how it turns out or maybe 2morow if I can't make it

the handle and back end will be $350, if the buffing doesnt turn out well, i'll fork the extra for new paint which would bring the total to like $500,

thought I was going to be paying like 600$+ bit of a relief, just hope these guys can make it look new again

Yeah i shop there on a regular basis. What i do is i enter the underground carpark Via civic way, then after i take the ticket i go left to the end and theres a few spots there where the car spaces are nearly twice as wide. I try to park there all the time and never had a problem.

ahhh I'll keep that in mind didn't kno, well realize that. Was driving either an Astra or Micra there before I got the lancer, so space wasn't a concern for me

still cant get over the whole trying to be over protective of the CJ made me damage it

Kav mate, i did almost the same thing today coming out of the driveway... totally feel for u man

i cbf get photos up, but was quoted 600 to respray the whole panel :'( when i have $13 in coins....

not too sure about yours from photo, mine went straight back to the metal

should we/i be worried about rust?

Mine went to the metal as well unfortunately, its the panel between the back door and bumper.

The guy at hills district told me he would blend the paint in, towards the curvature of the car so it looks normal and then you wouldn't need to paint the whole panel.

that same panel connects to like the side roof bit so pointless respraying the whole thing if its not scratched up there.

but yea these guys sorted out my mums xtrail when some mechanic jacked it up incorrectly, loosened the bumper and scratched the front some how.

Its another 200$ if I want the door back to perfect, but pointless when the buff made it practically invisible, if it irritates me tho I'll fork the extra

If anything may even look to getting some vinyls or decals just place it on top of the scratch. Even if the blending somehow ends up bad, which I highly doubt, I'll do the same thing, or maybe get some kind of sexy looking stripe on both sides.

someone keyed my old car so i touched it up and did that :)
with a stripe or vinyl of any kind is near or on paint blemishes you cant see them without really looking.
