My after market fog lights run direct of the battery and they have thier own relay and fuse seperate to the rest of the electrics in the car.

On most modern day cars (using ETACS-style body computers) there seems to be a real absence of traditional mechanical relays.. hence why they are called 'digital foglights' for OEM application.

Use a mechanical push-button switch, not a momentary (as Adrian suggests).

You really should have your impetus wire from the parkers, to ensure you comply with road standards....

thanks mate, and yeah i only use my fogs during 'actual fog' conditions so i should be okay :)

it's illegal to use them during normal day conditions i believe (here in NSW)

Ash, I believe its becoming a universal Australian law. You're right, but if anyone uses their fogs, without parkers/taillights on as a minium they can also be defected.

If you have to get your car pink-slipped (rego check) they will fail you if these fogs are not connected to the headlight system.

Don't care if people actually do, do what you like, but this is put up for posterity.

the only time i use mine is when there IS fog or at night when the High beams are on, but i turn them off when i dip the lights

Good find. I've emailed both and asked the question if the switches are momemtary or latching.

I suspect they are momentary though .....

Arrrgh!!! You don't reckon they'd fit?

I just got a reply from Lincorp:

Latching...once you depress it, it stays depressed with the indicator
light on until you push it again ... Also noticed that your email address is in australia...shipping will be a little more, about $15 so total will be $50.

Yep, good ole duct tape :)

Adrian: if the rear fog light was hard wired into the front fog lamp circuit (i.e. separate run from the lamp to (say) the fog lamp terminal on the fuse box - assuming there is one; I haven't looked yet) so the lamp comes on when the fog lamps are on, that would work and there is not an ADR issue?

Its not the way I'd prefer to go but just a thought.
