Goodspeed98 wrote:actually you can get a adaptor which can fix the problem ,for the current which is the rated current ,so if you want to replace it with led lights ,an adaptor would help you a lot ,you can take led SMD 3528 which is 0.08W for each led lights ,means you can take the length as you want and the led stripis also can cuttable .
a site may be much better help you

hope this works ,

i guess you must work for that company. heard you quote the place like 20 times(exageration) and i take it you mean that you can get a light fitting adapter so that you can basically plug a positive and a negative wire, that you can then take out to LED strips. i think is what you are trying to say. its just as easy to to do the same thing cutting into the wire from behind then you can hide your wires and you dont have to have wires coming out of your light socket.

So I've actually put in a 16-LED SMD into the sportback's boot light - lights it up very well. However, due to the terminals (-ve and +ve) I've had to orientate the SMD towards the side wall (as the SMD is physically too large to sit flat).

My suggestion is that you get a 9-LED-SMD so you can orientate it properly.

With regards to the power rating for the map and centre dome lights, what wattage should I be looking at?
Really don't want to affect the plastic, as mentioned at the start of this thread.
I want to get my hands on some SMDS off ebay. I'm thinking
1) 6 SMD LEDs for the map lights
2) 16 SMD LEDs for the dome light and the one in the boot

Hoges wrote:Danny, the LED's wont be on long enough to cause any affect to the plastic, as they are very low wattage they dont heat up nearly as much as the standard incandescent, they burn after a few seconds being on. LEDs wont.

I wouldnt bother looking at the power rating of the LED festoons as it is negligable, Just look for brightness and what colour you like

Thanks for the heads up then. It's time to ebay...
