I need a new DashCam!

So need some new Dash Cams as my rear Kaiser Baas R40 dash cam is failing.
The cheap option is to get the R50, these are now about $129 at SCA, the R40 has been discontinued.
https://www.kaiserbaas.comPlan B is upgrade both to the BlackVue DR750 which are on sale at AutoBarn until the end of the month for $479, front and rear.
Its quite a bit more but is it worth it?
I would love their 4k version but its over $1000 with a decent SD card.
CORRECTION they have a 4k one for $679 the DR900, front and rear.
What do others have right now?

I don't own one but BlackVue seem to be the best around

The 4k 2Ch one is tempting for $679 you get one 32Gb but I have a couple of 64gb cards so that's not an issue and I can get a 128 later.

Blackvue DR 750S 2CH or DR 650S 2CH
Get them reasonably priced 2nd hand now days
Can buy power cables and the video link cable between front and rear camera Also
Make sure the SD card you have is rated for a dash camera
If not then get one
Don't use a standard SD card as the blackvue needs a decent high speed card
If not it can does and will have issues

I got some good 64Gb cards for the current cameras not long ago but I'll check the specs.

BlackVue had those DC packages with either 32Gb or 64Gb and there was a $200 difference in price!
I know I can get fast SanDisk 256Gb with 100MBs right speeds for $70 on eBay.
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/SanDisk-256 ... SwNHZeeAL7Also on eBay BlackVue 256Gb with half the write speed, 49MBs is over $300!
https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Blackvue-Da ... SwcDBeEJqlI know there is more to it that just write speed, heat in a DC in summer is a huge issue. I'll probably get the 4K one with 32Gb, try the 64 I already have and go from there.
Also AutoBarn has lay-by, remember that? So you pay for things then get them
I'll probably do that as the from DC is working fine.

You don't have to buy the genuine blackvue memory cards
There are cards that do work that are rated to work with dash cams

The plan is lay-by the 4k next week, which is good for 2 or 3 months, get it before xMas and order a 256gb SD card sometime in between. I'll find a use for the other 64Gb SD cards later.

Weird update
Earlier this week for the first time in months the audio feedback for the rear 'dash' camera is working I started the car and when they power up you hear a chime and then 'GPS connected' but the back one has not worked with this for months. It was still recording until recently which I will check this weekend. Part of the problem is without the audio you can't hear the password needed to connect to your phone app to control it.
I'll still put the 4k one on lay-by before the end of the month and get it before Christmas but now I'm not sure what to do with the old ones, don't have a 2nd car. Maybe set put some side cameras?

Is there a firmware update for the camera?

I've asked and they said no even though I have 2 identical models but each with a different FW version.
Kaiser Baas R40 which is no longer available to buy, can't even find them on eBay new. Repco sells one that looks identical under a different name.
Still going the lay-by the BlackVue 4K Monday.

Why did I have to read this?
https://controlgeek.net/blog/2019/6/27/ ... e-dash-cam...and i just checked the rear camera and it now appears to be working 100% again, recording properly with audio feedback.
Plus with the story I posted above it calls into question some features, like the forced record which on most cameras keeps them saved and unable to be recorded over. Apparently the BlackVue models don't do this, if you press the butting to save a recording it should be saved. The cheap one I have now do this why doesn't BlackVue?
Unless this has been addressing in a recent FW update, but I can't find if it has.
