i think you would still get a small voltage drop every time it kicks in tho probably not noticeable tho.
PS i HAVE FRIKEN YOGO WITH M&M's

but yeah, i will never go straight to a battery for power, always ignition barrel
relay kicked in yo.
a relay doesnt really boots the power, it doesnt create power. its just basically an electrcally driven switch, so you can get power from elsewhere without overloading what you want to use to turn it on.
Just out of interest, with a small 400w RF aftermarket monobloc amp (plus factory RF amp/MMCS), how long would the battery last if listening to music or watching DVDs with the engine not running? I'm not talking very loud but, moderate volume. I know there's no clear cut answer but curious because my Civic's battery died after 5 hours (with a 400w RF system).

More info required ..... battery capacity ( ampere/hour rating )
amplifier INPUT ( not watts output )

The stock battery i think its 80-100 something A/h
and from the watts you should be able to work out the current draw.
P=IxV
so I=P/V
400/12 = 33.3A
so with a battery of 80-100 your battery should last about 3Hrs
but remember Amps dont use that much power all at once so i would say at listening volume, id say it would last about 5hrs maybe even 6hrs
