Dumb question but is there a tow kit for the RA (sedan or sportback)

also had anyone found a tow bar option with a square mount for quicker removal and not just the flat one with 2 bolts?

you won't get one for the lancer, the square hitch is used for heavy duty towing and allows for the fitting of a weight distributing hitch. anything rated up to 1250kg will only come with a flat tongue.

Which is annoying as I've see other new small cars with them, Corolla, i30, Golf just to name a few.

The i30 one looked factory with a Hyundai logo on the plate you put in the square hole when not using the tow hitch.

When the Ralliart first came out there wasn't a towbar option available for them due to the hydraulic pump in the right hand rear corner of the car. There may be one available now but I seriously think you wouldn't get a non-genuine one.

the Lancer's maximum towing capacity is 1000kg vs the i30 which can tow 1300kg so there's a fair bit of difference there.

Not sure if Mitsubishi still sells a genuine tow bar package, might have to look into this before making the move to a RA.

Its annoying the CJ Lancer has just the 1000kg limit compared to other small cars.

Constraints of the chassis design, maybe some rear body work on the flanges around where the drawbar mounts, and then some rear suspension work, uprated shocks etc, and you might be able to certify it for 1500, but not much more. There will be engineering reasons that they designed this chassis to be an interchangeable platform. So it was quick to turn out.

Not saying I'd want to tow heavy load, just it would be nice to have the square hitch option for convenience.

Did a quick look and some do offer a tow bar solution for the RA, but I'll have to go into it further and make some calls and the info might be out of date and no longer available for the CJ.
