Hi,

Took delivery of an RX Sportback a few weeks ago and am interested in putting an additional exhaust pipe on to balance the look of the rear. Salesperson mentioned they had done a couple and have seen one on the road, but because it is not an official option, dealership is now saying they can't do it. Any ideas/recommendations? Would it be worth the expense purely for looks?

Cheers.

I am certainly no mechanic but I would think to do this you would have to be careful not to open the system up too much so that you started losing back pressure and hence power.

If you just want the look go for a dummy tip, it's cheap and will look the part.

Yeha just make sure your car is very warm in winter before you drive it - but of an embarrassment if steam is only coming out one pipe hehehe...

I am hoping that someone runs into the back of my car (not too hard though!!! esp. if the wife is driving  ) so it needs a new bumper and I'll get a Ralliart one with the nice diffuser and twin pipe muffler set up.

Could always boil the kettle and pour of the dummy one before you leave lol.

Thanks for the replies. Yeah, I wanted the Ralliart version except my wife can't drive manual and the funds wouldn't have stretched that far  so had to be the next best thing with a bunch of extras to dress it up a bit. Wishing I was back living in Japan looking at some of the pics that are around of what's over there

The Ralliart is actually twin clutch manual, so actually only has 2 pedals!!

Anyways, go chat to a muffler shop, they will be able to set you straight. If you get a muffler with dual outlet, you shouldnt lose too much I believe.

I am sure some of the QLD guys would be able to recommend you a workshop that is reputable.

Yea, here in Melbourne, I got quoted $800 for Magnaflow dual outlet catback installed :) so it is possible.

I believe they cut into your rear bumper on the left side so as to fit the exhaust tip, hence it will be non-reversible once you have done it :)

Correct me if I'm wrong, as I have this quote for the sedan, I'm assuming it's the same for the sportsback.

Check out RPW's (club sponsor) single inlet/twin outlet muffler that they are going to R&D on thier test CJ.

There are quite a few guys waiting for them to be avaliable including myself as I am in the process of fitting a twin outlet HOS GT200 KR rear lip.
