2013 Lancer LX Transformation Into This...?

Hey everyone I'm a new member and I'm buying my first Lancer, well first Mitsubishi in the coming few weeks and I want to get an idea of what I can do (externally) to the car to give it a fresher - not so stock look without killing my wallet. I'm hoping that members here can give me some ideas and a rough idea of the cost of the mods. Please dont tell me to buy a Ralliart or an EVO, I cant afford it and I dont expect these mods to cost me as much as it would for a new Ralliart.

Here is the car I am buying:

Very boring stock looking as you can see. Im going to change the wheels and tires (the easy part) but I want the final product to look something like this (I realise there are limitations however the closer I could get to this look the better)

I have been reading the forums here for a couple of days before joining and saw some stuff that helped but to be honest I am confused and dont know where to start. I thought diffusers or a kit would be the best thing to go but I am not understanding what will fit, how and where to obtain it.

P.S. I hate the look of the LX front bumper and grill compared to that of the ralliart in the second picture...this would probably be the thing that bothers me the most in regards to the look of the LX

Thanks in advance to everyone who helps with useful tips!

A few different places to choose from. ..
Mars Performance are generally pretty good, carmate are ok, Bodykitskingdom can be bad, scorpion etc

if you want to pay extra $$$, you could go OEM for some of these items

Ok..so to get that look...

- RA bonnet (make sure you don't get one made of an un-ADR approved material)
- CF wrap bonnet (check for prices)
- RA front bumper ( mine was from BKK but I had fitment issues that can be fixed for extra $$)
- RA lip (that one is from Bodykitskingdom). I have this one, it needed slight modification to fit
- stick on side air vents
- vrx/ra spoiler
- eyelids

Thanks belle_tb_ES - I like EVO X kit MAARS has but I don't want to replicate the entire thing. Is there any of these shops that sell the kits in NSW?

Neo - The lips and pods look great! Nothing extreme and it really brings out the look. In regards to the centre piece covering the grill...isnt the LX lancer a whole part which joins with the bumper? Can it be removed/replaced?

Also I have heard fiberglass kits are a bad option is this true?

what part are you talking about?
and yeah probably stay away from fiberglass, abs plastic is probably the your best bet.

The part right underneath the Mitsubishi emblem that extends along the grill

Welcome :)
I have an LX too and for a while I've been considering "blacking out" the front bumper, but I haven't brought myself to do it yet.

There are a couple of how-to's on the forum for this and there are a couple of ways you can do it.

1. Buy black vinyl (either as a roll or as a precut piece which you can get from some of the vendors on here, eBay, etc).
Apply the vinyl to the front middle bumper section.
Buy black 'wheel arch' or 'body' moulding from Supercheap - it's not very expensive. This is to replace the chrome trim around the 2 grill pieces and put some in the middle missing pieces (around the blacked out vinyl)

2. Buy Plastidip online or from AutoBarn, wrap the bumper up as best you can (could even remove it entirely so you can spray away from the car) and spray all of it.

3. Buy a whole new bumper, which will be the entire front piece

:) hope this makes sense!

Thanks appreciate that! I am looking at this bumper on Ebay but again it is fiberglass + I have to paint and fit. Do the members here think this would be a good buy? Or should I consider the other options and simply 'black out' the front bumper? I dont know where to find a front bumper that is not fiberglass.. any ideas anyone? NSW or somewhere in AUS preferred?

Sorry forgot to add the link to the bumper I am viewing! Here it is:

Check out www.ssv.com.au
They're in Sydney and they have some pretty well priced parts.

Ashley Morris - I just had a look at the plastidip and some results from a guy that blacked out the chrome front on his Cruze. Looks good but the more I read the more I see that this wont last and requires re application of the dip as it starts to lose its luster and original look. Kind of a bad option as I would like to get something done which I dont have to worry about in the future

ive plastidipped my centre piece... been holding strong for past 9months or so...
pretty much easiest mod to do :D

In my car thread, linked below, on my blue vrx I blacked out (vinyl as I wanted to cover up the holes and relocate the plate) my front and fitted a v-lip and plasti dipped some parts, and I thought it turned out well, as far as the plastidip goes it holds up well it was on my vrx for 6-12 months and it is stil, on (as the new owner has kept it as it was ), also if you chuck the clear dip over the top you can get a slight shine that would hold, it is a very cost effective mod

Hi Dean - :welcome:

PlastiDip is the easy way to do things and then change your mind as it's pretty easy to remove.

Personally, I would check specialist Lancer wreckers and buy the blacked-out top grille section from an ES (there's heaps being wrecked - just check on GumTree).

The front-centre bumper section should only cost $55-75 for someone to 'professionally' vinyl it out (use matte or satin, not gloss)

The next 'easy' mod is to PlastiDip your wheels (or just buy a set of 18" VRX wheels - there's a couple of sets on Gumtree ATM)

If you want the RA bumper why are you buying one of the only models that doesn't come with it? :?

ES doesn't come with it either, nor the VR-X - it's only on 'special editions' & the RA of course!
