Tail Light question

Hey Guys

I hope you all had a good christmas! :D

Today, I have a question about the "tail lights" of a lancer. I'm intending to buy these really soon:

http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/271074129559 ... 514wt_1397

Before I buy them, I just want to make sure with the forum that these lights a compatible with a 2008 Mitsubishi Lancer VR. The website states that 'Mitsubishi Lancer ES's' are compatible. But can we assume that the VR can?

Secondly, you'll see in the description that it says "Smoke." What does it mean by "Smoke"? Does it play a role in the brightness of the of the tail lights?

And lastly, is this guide still applicable to these lights? If yes, I'm definitely doing this by myself ^^

Yep the ES lights are the same as a VR.

Smoked lights just mean that it has a darker appearance. So yes, it won't be as quite as bright (I can't image it's a huge difference though).

Yes the guide is the same.

Ah Brilliant! That'll save me money knowing the guide is still usable.
What's the opposite to a smokey light?

If it's not smokey, it would be clear LOL

If there are 2 options available, it will generally specify if it's smoked or clear.

Ahh, I was right. The lighter version is called "Chrome". xD. Didn't see it until I had another look. Now comes the deciding stage. Thanks for your help kimmy! :)

Well I have those exact tail lights fitted to my car (the smoked ones) and I can vouch for them.
I have an ES, but the VR trim level changes nothing around the tail light housing, so they will fit perfectly fine.
As for darkness - they look pretty dark in direct sunlight, and black at night but the brightness of the LED's is *not* affected.
The lights are just as bright if not brighter than stock :) Go for them.
I think I have some pics if you're interested.

Thanks for the backup Annabelle ;)

Just because I'm bored and have never used the CCJ image uploader before, now is the time for experimenting!
Here's what they will look like on your white lancer:

Ignore the damage to the back of the car, it has since been repaired.
( No Annabelle, it wasn't from reversing into a wall! xD )

Well because we still are discussing the thread topic, we should be fine :P
Really? Are you sure you got the smoked ones, not the clear or 'chrome' ones - whatever they are?
Also, that photo was taken on a cloudy day in the shade..

Smoked are what I asked for....disks,d,,ekes,s, I need to have another look at them in daylight.

Just saying...be careful where you go with that topic of hitting walls....it will start something unrelated

I guess we can always compare them whenever we run into each other next.
Mine certainly are very dark all the time..perhaps they are made slightly differently by different companies to the same design or something? o.O

OK then, we won't mention the fact that I most certainly didn't hit that wall
I'm glad we never have to mention it again ;)
