I have a couple of engine covers, which allows me to experiment...
My latest initiative is to make a cover that looks like its a puddle of blood with splatter....
I want to put a decal, in 'Nightmare 5' font with the words "Bloody Hell" on the cover.
To this end, I have finished the cover and just need to get the decal cut... now looking for a shop that can do the type of font required.
I was also thinking about a skull on the bottom left corner.
To achieve the look, I coated the cover with a clear adhesion primer, which is necessary due to the flexibility of these covers. Then it was liberally coated many times in a chrome paint.
The top coat is an anodising-look red VHT Speco paint, called Metal Tint SP233-Red.
The cover looks like a deep candy red, but was too even. To get the blood splatter look and drips, I filled a cap with the paint and dripped it over the cover.
Hopefully I can get the decal just right to match the cover's look...
As with all mods, this may not be to your liking, but thats ok, you don't have to tell me how crap it is... I aimed for this look. Sometimes its the boldest mods that make our cars unique.
If anything, it is too subtle and needs more shock value.. not sure how I could achieve this... I need to find a skilled airbrushing artist to put a skull and some accents on it possibly....
Another mod half-way finished!!

If you have spares tryg, maybe look at contacting lukeaday. He does vinyl signage and airbrushing. He has a slot in the sponsors section. I don't think it'd cost too much to post the engine cover down to him to get some airbrush work done.
Looking good though mate.
On the subject of mailing small parts places; I'm halfway considering posting my engine cover up to Concord Customs to have it carbon wrapped.

Nice work tryg
That's a theme that will be very unique for sure!
Love the colour and the other covers would look great like that too
+1 for scraverXs suggestion
Get in touch with lukeaday and see what he can come up with.
